“Location locatio location at an affordable price!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

We chose this for its location (near Negresco Hotel) booked a semi basement room to make it affordable. We took bus 98 and got off near the negresco hotel (which can be easily spotted).walked two blocks off the promenade de anglais and easily found our hotel. Our room was small with two beds and not much room to spread out. Therefore we tried to keep our room tidy so it would be comfortable. The bad thing about the room is the shower. If your a plus size female or large man you may not fit it the shower. The wifi was free but poor in the room. The rooms were cleaned daily and minimal toiletries provided. The hotel has beach mats and umbrellas for your use. The girl at night was super wonderful. Always gave us great advice on places to eat. There are plently of restaurants on France street and if ur on a budget subway is close. A grocery store on rivoli. Bakeries and coffee shops close by. I would definitely stay here again but will try to be in shape for the shower ha ha ha!!

This hotel is typically French. We booked into a superior room at 182 euros, although the rate on the door for our room was 177 euros, the hotel kindly honoured this. The room was pleasant but small. The superior rooms are quoted on the hotel's website as being. 'Spacious.'..this is not the case with room 7. We were however originally placed in room 9 which is even smaller. We did wonder whether we had been given a double room rather than a superior room but were assured by reception that both rooms were in fact superior. Although we enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly, we would not be prepared to pay this rate again for such a small room.

In many ways, the perfect Nice hotel. Sweet, romantic, friendly, convenient. In a monthlong wander around Europe by train and bus, this was my favorite stop. OK, it's not on the water, but it's close enough -- like right down the street. As for the rest: 1890s France. You're treated as if you're the welcome guest of a rich Parisian aunt in her seasonal villa by the sea, given her favorite room, served a lovely breakfast, sped off to see the sights and greeted warmly upon your return by receptionists eager to hear what you've been up to. The train is a walkable distance if you're a decent walker and your luggage is light or wheeled. Everything, in fact, is walkable. Restaurants abound. But if it's the seaside that brought you here, you won't be at all disappointed. One caution: No lift -- but you'll get help. Just enjoy!

First and foremost the front desk staff were great, very kind, knowledgeable and helpful overall. The hotel is older, but again full of character and charm. During our stay we stayed in two different rooms because they were booked separtely. The first room on the 3rd floor was nice, but lacked wall outlets. Other than that it was nice and clean. Oh and no elevator too, nice climb to the top. The second room was on the basement level, and were suprsingly nicer than the top. It had a larger renovated bath with separte larger sink area.
The dining and terrace areas were beautiful as well, especially on a nice sunny day.

Overall, we had a great experience at the hotel and would definitely stay again.

Booked a superior room for 2 nights prior to a cruise and stayed in room #5. Lovely room facing the front of the hotel one level up from the main floor. Discovered on our arrival the hotel did not have an elevator, but managed our large suitcases thanks to help from the staff. We returned to the hotel after our cruise, and were happy to discover we'd been upgraded to room #7. This is one of the family suites which has 2 large beds. It was great having the extra room for our luggage. This suite also faces down on the courtyard area, which we found to be a nice quiet location. We did use the wifi available, and never had a problem. We also decided to have the breakfast offered at an additional fee. They served a nice selection of the usual European offerings that you could have either in the breakfast room or on the outside patio dining area. Barbara, the owner, is hands on, and enjoys talking to her guests and ensuring that they are well taken care of and all needs are met. They called us a taxi to take us to the airport, and were nice enough to ask if another couple could join us, as that would bring down the cost. Worked out beautifully. Would definately recommend the hotel for both the ambience and location. All the staff at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful with all questions we had on sights, restaurants etc.

Room Tip: Loved the family room #7 on the 2nd floor that overlooked the garden. Nice, quiet and large.

My husband and I stayed for five nights in a superior room on the main floor. The room was delightfully decorated, very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The sun did shine every day so breakfast of coffee, croissants, jams, cheese and charcuterie in the garden every morning was bliss. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available all day. The staff made restaurant bookings, provided information and maps of Nice and were very friendly and helpful. This is a French villa hotel, not a chain with souless modern decor. Comfortable and quiet, two minutes from the beach, busses to and from museums on the same block, it was lovely. I'd recommend it to any of my friends.

Room Tip: There is no elevator in this villa hotel. We chose a superior room with shower on the main floor wi...

stayed 13/5 to 20/5 2013 in a standard room.size of room perfectley adequate for the south of france. if you can afford to stay on main drag in room with sea view (which would mean another hotel) do it. if not book superior room _ i tried to upgrade after checking in but was told fully booked. had a look at superior room and the one i seen was lovely. much more to my liking. stayed for 7 nights so superior room would have been better. Finishing in hotel and room room poor and so was overall cleanliness Spoke to manager once , very personable and if i had voiced any concerns re cleanliness (which i did not - i just like better) i am sure she would have addressed them. the young girls on reception are all lovely and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if was offered a more value for money deal but overall a quaint very french adequate dwelling. Noise was not an issue and towels were fresh every day many thanks k and p (25th wedding anniversary)

Room Tip: do not discount- you could find it quite enchanting
