“Chic & Cosy. A hidden treasure in the back streets of Nice”
Cave 35 at first glimpse is a wine & champagne cellar, small but effective and nicely set out, the difference is it's not just a cellar! Walk through the door way in the bottle shop and you enter into another world, dimmed coloured lights, lounges, fireplace, huge floor to ceiling tinted windows, smooth music and a fantastic bar at the end of the room. I was nicely surprised by the deco, not over the top, done with taste, this place is Chic & Cosy. It was a Friday night crowd, average age was early 30's, always good to find a place that's not over run by teeny boppers. It took us a while to get served at first but if you don't want to wait at the table you can order directly at the bar. On average 6 euros for your standard glass of wine, 15 euros for a Piscine Peche (champagne, peach liquer and ice). I think a night could get pricey if you don't keep and eye on what you're ordering but I'm presuming the owners have purposely done this to attract a certain clientele (or to dissuade another clientele). Unfortunately for us the chef was not there as Cave 35 also proposes small plates of food. I feel that although you could come here in casual attire (No! not shorts, thongs or singlets), the place is so nice that you'd want to put on a pair of heels or a shirt, casual-chic! The are two owners, we met one of them, he seemed to be genuinely interested in his clientele which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend Cave 35 for after-work drinks, drinks with friends, birthdays (you can hire the whole place out) or even a romantic drink next to the fire place. I had a great night and hope things stay this way for a while to come!!
