Great location, close to the centre of Nice. Hotel very modern. Pictures are nothing like the rooms are now. Very comfortable, large bed. Ultra-modern jacuzzi style bath in a bathroom finished to the same high standard of the room. Agree with previous room tip that a front facing room may be noisy with the window open, however aircon was available so no issues.

Absolutely recommend and will definitely come back!

I love finding small three star hotels that are really good value and comfortable. Le Meurice in Nice was certainly such a find. Extremely well located (two minutes from the sea, five from Old Nice and right next to the pedestrian street with lots of cafés and restaurants) this hotel was recently renovated. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was very modern, functional and nice. I reserved a small suite, because it was the only room available. It wasn't really a suite at all, just a room, which was probably a bit larger than normal rooms, with a coach that was a pull-out bed. My room faced the inner courtyard so there was no noise even though I slept with the window opened. My only criticism is like many hotels in France, there are no electrical plugs for travelers' phones, computers and tablets. You have to move around furniture and unplug a lamp in order to charge your devices. For a hotel that was recently remodeled this is difficult to understand because it's a very important issue for modern travelers. On the other hand, the internet was free and better than in many hotels where you have to pay for it. It was fast enough to handle Skype calls and streaming news items. I didn't try streaming anything else.
The staff should give a bit more attention to how they interact with guests. While I was there I witnessed one verbal argument between the receptionist and another employee (please... I don't want to hear that!), and I was very surprised to walk through the very small lobby twice during the afternoon, look directly into the eyes of the woman at reception, smile and say hello - and not even a hello or a smile in return!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014

Stayed here on a drizzly weekend in April and the good points are the location, this hotel is right in the heart of it and a short stroll to the shopping areas. A ten minute pleasant walk to the old town with loads of bars and restaurants on its doorstep. Bus stop from the airport shuttle is a five min walk. The hotel is quaint, newly refurbished, rooms on the small size but adequate. No air conditioning so very stuffy - I wouldn't like to stay here in high summer. Due to its location we felt we needed to sleep with the windows shut due to the road noise but we woke boiling at 3am by the sound of the bin wagon!! The bed was extremely hard and it felt like we were sleeping on the floor. That's the only downside as after so much walking and sight seeing a good nights sleep is a must but it wasn't to be. The first morning we had breakfast, thought it was included in the cost but apparently not. Second morning we went to a local cafe and got a much better breakfast for half the cost.

Nice is a beautiful little city and I would definitely return but was shocked at the cost of everything for a cup of coffee to a pair of shoes. City prices I suppose and I will be prepared next time.

I gave this hotel a 4 star due to the beds. Why can't hotels purchase softer mattresses. I always come home more tired than when I went!! The cheaper hotels may just have softer mattresses so will go for the budget option next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if possible.

Le Meurice is a cute little hotel with a prime location for sightseeing in Nice. While the decor is a little quaint and old-fashioned (our very pink and frilly room looked like Strawberry Shortcake's bedroom), everything is quite clean and comfortable. The hotel staff are all very friendly and willing to assist with anything.

We booked hotel Meurice for 3 nights (27.02-02.03.2014) in booking.com, reference number 279938969/10.09.2013.
When we arrived on the 27.02.2014, we found out that the hotel was closed, under renovation – see photos attached. We tried to find an other hotel, but most of the hotels were fully booked, because of the Nice carnival. We lost a lot of time looking for a hotel and we found a doubleroom for one night in hotel De Suede and a room for the next 2 nights in Hotel Beau Rivage. It was very unpleasant to arrive at 10 p.m. in a foreign country and to find out that you have no place to spent the night over. The hotel was closed, there was no sign indicating where else to go, no phone number displayed somewhere, they did not answer the phone number they had on the reservation confirmation.
Having no place to go, we thought to check the hotel next door, Hotel De Suede, if they had an available room for that night. Much to our surprise, when we tried to book the room, the receptionist showed us the cancellation of our reservation in Hotel Meurice, which we had not received before. We insist on the fact that there was no sign indicating us to go to Hotel De Suede. We chose that hotel by chance, because it was the closest one. The reservation number 685798491/ 08.09.2013 on the cancellation paper was different from the reservation number on the booking confirmation 279938969/ 10.09.2013.
Together with the cancellation, we also received a confirmation that Hotel Meurice tried to take the money for one night (89 eur) from our credit card, on the day of our arrival (27.02.2014, time 15:32). We do not understand why a hotel that was closed and under renovation tried to take the money from our account and why booking.com did not inform us that the hotel was closed. We talked to our bank and they certified that the hotel tried to withdrew the money from our account, which we consider to be a fraud.

Room Tip: don't choose this hotel, it is closed.

The hotel it is into a very good location. It is at 100 m of beach, Place Massena, Old city, shopping magasines. The bus stations for airport (98), for Monaco (100) and for Cannes (200) are very closed from hotel.
The hotel is clean and the room was very spatios. We had a junior suit or triple room (twin bed and a sofa for child). I understad that other rooms are not big like that but you just sleep in the room, you are there for other motives.
The breakfast is optional (10 euro for each person) and it can be take in the hotel lobby.
Next time when we will go to Nice we will take the same hotel because is very good for price/quality raport, very well located and design like a boutique hotel.

The room booked was described as spacious but was in fact quite small, poor lighting, one bedside lamp, no mirror in room. Décor in need of TLC and much work needed to give it a French look. Close to Old Town, Market and Promenade but would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Check room size before settling in.
