“Great location in Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Hotel Suisse is a great choice to stay in Nice. In puts right in the heart of Nice and all the expensive boutiques and restaurants. The rooms have great view of the area and the beds are ideal for a very relaxing sleep. The staff was very helpful and helped us with our travel arrangements. I would recommend this hotel !

Everything was perfect. Don't miss to book the breakfast, it was excellent. Nice view over Nice, very good location. Very helpful staff. We stayed there for 2 nights. All of the must seen places in Nice are almost in a walking distance.

This is a super small hotel with views from almost every room across the bay. It is at the eastern end of the Promenade and the vista is unmatched from any other hotel. Inside it is very nicely presented and the reception staff are friendly and well-informed. It is a base to tour and explore from as the facilities in the hotel itself are limited - not that you would really want to stay indoors when you've got Nice old town on your doorstep.

The promentary on which the hotel is situated is part of the old fortifications of the original Nice, and on one side is the town itself with the market area and many restaurants, and behind is the port with some amazing gin palaces! Take the municipal lift (less than 10 metres from the hotel entrance) up to the castle on top of the cliff for even more spectacular views.

Personally, I felt the bed in the room was too big. It would have suited the aesthetics of the room if it had been a double rather than a king size. This meant that the space in the room was just a little cramped. Nevertheless it was extremely comfortable and we had no problem sleeping. That said, you wouldn't find it so easy with the balcony doors open as the traffic is constant from about 6:30am to 2:00am.

There was a narrow balcony with a table and two chairs which was ideal for a pre-dinner drink watching the sun set across the bay and the night lights of Nice switch on.

To be honest, I felt that the Hotel breakfast was a bit too inflated in price at 18 Euros. There are restaurants offering menu dinners for less than that. Indeed, a couple of hundred metres from the door and you are in the old market, where there are several restaurants open early and serving very respectable ones for 7 Euros with the added benefit of being able to eat al fresco and watch the life of the market. Similarly, surely no-one pays the mini-bar prices?!

My other grumble was the coffee-making facilities. This was a fancy coffee-maker that took a specific cartridge to make a small espresso. It took up too much space and if you used up the one cartridge supplied per person then you had to pay 3 Euros for each extra. A simple kettle would have done perfectly well. By judicious jiggling of the lever on the machine you could get it to dispense more hot water in espresso cup sized portions but that's hardly ideal.

I spent one day at the Hotel. I had room 47, which had a gorgeous view of the Bay. The bed was comfortable. Everyone was very nice, friendly and helpful. You can walk easily to lots of places. I would love to come back one day.

Superb location-right on the Bay. Room had an amazing view of the Bay. Hotel just a couple minutes walk to the old town section of Nice. Stayed at an off peak time(December), so room was very reasonably priced.

We stayed here for 2 nights before heading to Italy. We used this as our base to spend time in Monaco & Nice. Our room was on the 5th floor, good size by European standards, big comfy bed and nice bathroom with bath tub but the best thing was the view over the shoreline... Sitting on our little balcony at night or laying in bed in the morning watching the sun come up over nice was something I'll never forget. Great value for money and great location if you aren't keen on being crammed in to touristy areas... Nice 5 minute walk to the fresh food and art markets and charming older part of town. No parking on site but 5 mins to paid underground lot is no trouble at all.

Room Tip: Worth while getting a bigger room with a view
