“Zero Security & Privacy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

My family stayed at the Best Western New York in Nice, France. Despite putting the Do Not Disturb signs on both our rooms, when we returned on the last night we found that both rooms had been cleaned that day. On checking out the next morning, I complained to the manager. He just shrugged his shoulders and couldn't care less. The next morning we discovered that my son's watch was missing. We searched the room but it was gone. I wrote a written complaint to Best Western and the written response I got from the hotel manager was an apology for US forgetting the watch. Incredible! As for servicing the rooms - they said they clean them regardless of the Do Not Disturb signs because many guests forget the signs on the doors and actually want them cleaned. Where I come from, entering a hotel room without the registered guest's consent is a crime. BTW - there was no safe in the room.

Room Tip: If you are concerned about your security and your valuables - Avoid this hotel. There are no safes...

Even though I'm offering an average rating - this property has a solid location with tons nearby in terms of dining and shopping. Partially biased because we couldn't get into the room early (though understandable) and were exhausted after traveling. When we did get in, it was even smaller than expected (though clean) with beds that left much to be desired in terms of comfort. Price a little higher than it should be - based on the rooms - but perhaps not - based on the location. I'd consider staying here again (though the other person in my party would not).

Stayed only one night here, but had a very nice room, with the bathroom area that could be closed off from the living area. Short walk to the main square, and the beach. Plenty of shopping, and dining very close to the hotel. Was a little noisy, and beds weren't super comfy, but that is pretty typical for Europe. Overall a great experience here. Would definately recommend!

Stayed with friends in April. We had a room with a balcony and that's what made the room. The room is basic, simple budget choice. The location is great, only a few blocks from the main square, shopping mall, and of course the beach. Not a huge fan of Nice in general, but a great layover.

Room Tip: Request a balcony room.

A friend and I stayed at this hotel from the 19th - 22 May 12. Initial thoughts were that the room and staff were friendly and ok value for money. However; it rained and rained over the period we were there...ok, we can't control the weather. However, we expected to come back to a warm and comfortable room after being in the rain all day. Not the case...we were on the fourth floor; right hand side balcony room facing onto the street (416 I think). There was a huge chunk of masonary missing from the outside wall. The carpet in this corner of the room, which included our wardrobe and surrounding carpet around the bed was soaked through; so much so, that when we walked on it the water was seeping through the carpet and was completely saturated. We complained, and the receptionist moved us to a different room. However, we then approached the manager for a discount, as the room was not to the same standard (preferred location), and our clothes were all damp. We met with the Manager "Mr Angry" who was a very rude man, and totally disinterested in how our stay had been. He suggested the unusual weather was to blame for the conditions in the hotel room, and dismissed our complaint; I pointed out that we were "not in a tent on a campsite", and the masonary problem and humidifiers in the wardrobe suggested he knew that there were problems with this room. He was more interested in how much money he had lost through the problems with the rooms, and the loss of euros for the room we had moved too. He eventually offered us 25% discount, which meant we got our rooms for 100 Euros a night instead of 130. We were very offendended by "Mr Angry" as he even argued sarcastically that "maybe he should pay us 100 euros a night for staying in his hotel". We did not get an apology...disgraceful. The reception staff were very friendly, helpful and apologetic....the opposite to their shameful manager!

Room Tip: Fourth floor balcony room (416...I think); as long as it's not raining. Nice big room with a gre...

What a lovely hotel. We three friends stayed here for two nights in a really large triple room, clean and bright. Staff very pleasing and knowledgeable nothing too much trouble. Amongst the action all amenities around. The tram system is great like all public transport in France. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.
