“Musical instruments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

We like music and so were pelased to circulate among rooms in an old palace and to see various old pianos and the harps from which they grew. Also, smaller stringed instruments, including a hirty-girty or two.

“Unexpected gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

You wouldn't find this place unless you were actually looking for it as it is tucked away up a side street in the Old Town. It has some beautiful old musical instruments on display - particularly old pianos and entrance is free. There are two floors and you have to climb up stone steps so it's not for anyone with walking difficulty. There are sometimes free concerts on Sunday afternoons by students and staff from the Nice School of Music. You need to get there by about 2.30 for a 3pm start as seating is limited to 50 but it is well worth a visit anyway.

“Lascaris Palace in the old town of Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

A very interesting visit of a beautiful building in the old town of Nice. Do not expect great things, but a visit is recommended as an add-on to the visit of the old town of Nice, which is marvellous.

This attraction can be difficult to find. But once found is absolutly fantastic. There was an exhibition of pianos and other string instruments on when I was there it was most facinating.

“A Gem of a Palace!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2012

The Palais Lascaris is a wonderful example of the Italian Baroque architecture that is found everywhere in Old Nice. Just walking in and wandering around is a treat, but if you speak French, there is a marvelous little man who conducts very detailed, fascinating tours at 3 pm every day - recommended. Free admittance; guided tour is 5 euros (2.5 euros for seniors). Make sure to look at the building from the outside, not just the inside. It is located on the narrow rue Droite, one of the longer north-south streets in the old city, loaded now with small art galleries. Note the small cannonball attatched to the corner of the building, and the plaque that goes with it!
