“Nice little hotel in Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

Good location not far from rue de la Buffa, rue de France et lively areas with cafes and restaurants. The reception is friendly and professional. The terrace looks very nice for summer with an impressive tropical garden and swimming pool. Although I didn't have it, I was told that the breakfast is very good as well for EUR14. I stayed in a basic room which was roomy enough for a couple. Bathroom had a nice shower. Other than that, I have stayed in a number of mostly soulless hotels in Nice (I come to see family twice a year) and have to say that compared with the Elysee Mediterranee or the Radisson, Hotel Windsor is a lot more friendly and nicer room wise. Its a good option for winter and probably a very good one for summer (which I will try next time I go to Nice)

We stayed for a weekend at the end of November and, having reserved the top option room with a garden view, we were shown to room 36 on the second floor (Venice).

For the price I thought the room was extremely capacious and well lit which are both things I appreciate.

However there were a few complaints:
- the room felt tired and rather shabby, although the furniture was beautiful the little details were lacking, chips and marks, bits of trim missing on walls, what appeared to be a polystyrene heat deflecter atop the radiator...
- the shower was inaccessible
- the shower was incapable of having any altered position, the head falling down/flipping against the wall every time it was moved. The only time the shower could be wedged in place was if you wanted to wash the mirror above the sink on the other side of the wall.
- the bath water was brown, and I do mean brown, it took three full baths and much running in between every time to run a clear bath (terribly wasteful)
- the air conditioning didn't work (fan worked but no cooling was available so it just circulated the same temperature air)
- the tv was temperamental
- the toilet flush was temperamental
- the bed was fitted with a winter duvet (although I appreciate that this is subjective depending on your preferences)

Otherwise we found the hotel to be very sweet and well located, the staff were terribly attentive and spoke wonderful English.

The garden is gorgeous and having stuck our heads in on another room it looks as though they too are nice, of course it is a boutique hotel and so each room differs.

I would still go back despite our complaints!

Seven friends met up in Nice for a four day visit, and we all managed to get rooms in the Windsor.
All the rooms are different sizes and each is uniquely decorated. The place is full of quirky little details relating to local artists and poets. We ate in the small restaurant on the first evening and, although we did't get there until nine thirty, we managed to get an excellent meal.
The breakfasts, although not spectacular, are sufficient and the coffee particularly good (breakfast are not usually included in the room price).
Service was really attentive throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble.
Our room was really spacious with a fabulous bathroom and a really comfortable bed. Looking at the floor plan, we did notice that the room sizes vary greatly, so that might be worth checking out when you book. Our weather wasn't too good, so we didn't get a chance to eat or sit out in the fabulously jungly courtyard. We'll have to come back for that pleasure.
All in all a really quirky hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Thanks everyone, but please get that lift fixed!

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the courtyard if possible, the road can be a little noisy.

Dear customer,

I'm very happy that all your group was satisfied with our hotel. Indeed our restaurant is a good choice, moderate price for good food, well cooked.

Yes the lift has been fixed ! He is talking again and takes you to the space...

We've been returning to the Windsor for years, and have never regretted it. Location is excellent, a short walk from the Old Town and Central Nice, amid many excellent restaurants and shops. A modest taxi ride from the airport, it is readily accessible by bus from the airport if you don't have too many bags. The restaurant is very pleasant, especially in season when you can eat in the garden, and the buffet breakfast was excellent. We had a large room (#15) with excellent bathroom -- but the king bed's mattress had a ridge down the middle, leaving a slight risk of actually being catapaulted to the floor. Other rooms are much smaller, although still quite acceptable. Staff responded to our every request with a smile.

Dear Customer,

Thanks for your faithful visit in our hotel and your nice comment.
Please insist to have a large bed instead of twins bed when you book. It is sometimes difficult to manage all wishes (price, side of the hotel, size of the room, shower or bath, decoration...). It is important for us to know your main priority.

Nice to have you with us regularly.

Kind regards,

Odile Redolfi-Payen

Really good hotel in Nice city center. The room I stayded was small and the bathroom was tiny. But clean and so interestingly decorated. The bathroom was really good when taking into account its size. I especially liked the shower - luxury! The hotel is on walking distance to shopping streets, old town, and the beach. There are plenty of very good restaurants around the hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also good enough. If there had been coffee possibility in the room, the stay had been even better :).

We stayed here on the eve of the Nice - Cannes marathon. Very close to the Promenade des Anglais ideal for the start of the race.
Friendly and efficient staff. Was shown to our room by the male receptionist.
Our room was a bit too arty for our tastes. It had blood-red beads attached to the ceiling that were a bit weird. The room was clean and the bed comfy. The bathroom was minuscule; I am 1m 61 weighing 52kilos and I found it a squeeze! Should someone obese reserve the room, I doubt they would manage to use the loo and shower.
We had early breakfast on account of the marathon which cost 14euros....a bit expensive but what do you expect in Nice?
Check out time is 11:30 but I was allowed to return to the hotel and have a much needed shower after the marathon....a nice touch and much appreciated!

Dear guest,

Thanks a lot for your nice comment. The room you had has a ceiling designed by Choi Jeong hwa, one the best artiste in Corea. All the rooms are so different, there is one for you!

See you again for next Marathon,

Sincerely,

Odile Redolfi-Payen

The hotel is centrally located, nearby the station of Nice and not so far from the airport of Nice. The hotel is clean.
The staff is very friendly and when I come back to Nice I will come back to hotel Windsor.
