“Quality...will visit again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2006

As a regular user of Holiday Inn, it says alot that the quality of room, service and location stands out.

This hotel is ideally placed for exploring the city, 5 mins from bus stop or train station, and in a quiet and well presented main street (boulevard victor hugo). It is close to all the sights and has a number of quality restaurants nearby if you don't want to venture too far.
When you are greeted by welcoming staff announcing "we have upgraded you to Executive" you cannot fail to be impressed (quiet period or not) and the spacious, clean, and well appointed room lived up to the impression. Faultless.
However, breakfast was nothing special - disappointing even - given the quality of service and choice further afield.

Nice is a great city to explore and to use as a base to travel further. A 20 or 25 minute journey on the train for example, drops you in upmarket Monaco...how the other half live and not a pot hole in sight!

Makes an interesting contrast to Nice at the moment because while the new Tram system is being built, it must be said the city is one big building site. It hasn't put one off though ,we will return ( but when the tram is running)

Many, many restaurants to choose from but thanks to Mr Hughes, one can definitely recommend La Maison de Marie on rue massena but you may need to book - we were very lucky and very satisfied - others who simply turned up had to walk away or book for later.

Booked this hotel for a short break of two nights before looking at tripadvisor because of the good rates and proximity to the old town. However, we were more than pleased to find that it was in a very smart street, surrounded by smart up-market shops, residences, etc. The service was excellent, we were upgraded without being told from a standard to an executive room (probably because the hotel was very quiet and it makes good marketing sense since we will probably go back!). Staff were very pleasant and helpful, and the hotel was spotless.

The only downside, though not a very important one, was that the restaurant was closed in the evening, though food could be ordered and eaten in the bar.

Overall a very good experience!

Thanks to your contributors we decided, as two oldies, to stay at the Holiday Inn. We had one of their executive rooms which was spotless and roomy for France. Although the view was of the main road (Victor Hugo) the noise was minimal with the window closed. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The only problem we encountered was some difficulty at breakfast when coach parties arrived. They seemed to eat early and clear everything from the buffet. The staff did their best to replenish the food but it was much nicer when it was quieter.

The hotel was in an extremely good central position and we walked to the bus station and the railway station without any effort. The old town was also near enough to walk into at night to eat. Altogether a very good hotel and holiday. Lee

My Girlfriend and I stayed at the Holiday in the first week in August 06. Upon arrival, after taking 2 hours driving from the airport (15 min journey but i got lost!!), we were greeted by big smiles by two very friendly receptionists. They organised the porter to get our car and park it properly (i had abandoned it in frustration a couple of blocks away). They couldn't have been more accomodating (something that is becoming scarce in the "hospitality" sector.

Our room was spacious and well appointed with a comfortable bed and had great views of the rooftops of Nice.

The Hotel is v well located about a ten min walk from Promenade D'Anglais. It is situated on Boulevard Victor Hugo, which is one of the main streets in the city. It is a very safe area and we always felt v relaxed walking in the area at any time of day or night.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday in Nice and i would definitely return to The Holiday Inn.

PS. It took me a long time to decide on a hotel and got kinda frustrated reading all the reviews of different hotels in Nice. I booked this hotel based on Trip advisor reviews and once again I wasn't disappointed!

We stayed at an executive suite (9/21-9/25) at this centrally located hotel. For four sisters on holiday, the suite was roomy with plenty of breathing space. The bath was spacious with a separate toilette in the sitting area and the terrace overlooking the city of Nice was a good place to eat our snacks. The room was clean and modern...even the sofa bed was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The hotel restaurant served a good lunch and breakfast. Our only complaint was that they couldn't provide us with extra pillows (only one finally came available on our last night) as they had "run out," and the sliding doors to the terrace were extremely difficult to open. Although we ate in the old town and the touristy spots, our best dining experiences were at the award-winning restaurants less than a half block away. Everything was convenient to the hotel--the beach front, shopping, and the tour bus stop for visits to the Chagall and Matisse museums and other interesting places. The full day Med-Tour to nearby Monaco, Monte Carlo, Eze and St. Paul de Vence is well worth the money (ask for Jerome). After all the activity, the Holiday Inn was a great place to end the day...a large and luxurious oasis for tired feet.

This was our first visit to Nice, so we researched hotels via the internet and reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed with our choice of this hotel for our 3 night stay. With 2 teenage children we opted for 1 twin room and 1 double room. Both rooms were clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Reception staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts offered a good choice of hot and cold food. The hotel was located within easy walking distance of the promenade, railway station (for visits to Monaco etc) and main shopping area. We feel that the hotel offered good value for money and would definately use it again and have recommended it to friends.

Stayed overnight with Globus tour. I loved the location. Only a 10 minute walk to beach and casino. Spent several hours at the sidewalk cafes and shops. Staff was helpful and friendly. One of the best rooms we stayed in out of 11 on the tour.
