5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

A spacious (by any standards), clean room, with a comfortable bed complemented with views of the quaint buildings of Nice, and all near the station- a bonus all round.
As a solo traveller I was met by a warm person who not only made you feel at home by introducing you to fellow guests (yet unobtrusively) but was a wealth of information in the best sites and eating places to visit- based on personal experience. Josephine's knowledge of 'good' wines and restaurants, which served a variety of delicious foods, was impeccable. There was many a night we, as in the guests AND Josephine, returned from a sated evening out.
Josephine's offsider, Rocco, the Wonder Dog, was a delight, also unobtrusive in his presence.
As other guests and Josephine will mention, traffic noise may be an issue; however ear plugs are on offer. Although I'm a light sleeper the comfortable bed and pillows enabled for a good night's rest.
Thank you Josephine for contributing to a memorable experience of Nice.

Recently stayed at this B and B in Nice. The place was extremely clean and the room was fantastic. We loved the French doors, especially opening them up in the morning! We could not fault the breakfast either. Location is good with just a short walk to old town and the beach. Josephine gave us tips which really helped us get the most out of our stay. Outside the room can noisy but Josephine tells you this and with ear plugs its fine.

Josephine runs her guest rooms with precision and attention to detail. Everything is as clean and the bed is as comfortable as you could wish (this is, alas, still far from normal in France); the welcome is warm and the breakfast well above standard. So terrific value. The only drawback, as other TA reviews have commented, is the (brilliant) central location near the main railway station, so there is some street noise. Highly sensitive guests might have reservations about the shared bathroom, but Josephine also keeps the common areas spotlessly clean, so we didn't mind at all. We had the best (and by no means most expensive!) dinner of our Côte d'Azur trip at her recommendation (Le Boudoir), and by far the best icecream (just around the corner, under the railway bridge). Highly recommended.

Thank you for your review. I had never tried the local icecream shop, so on your recommendation, I did. You are right, the pistachio is absolutely incredible. For you a fond memory, for me a constant temptation!

We loved staying at Chez Josephines. The rooms are gorgeous. Particularly enjoyed opening the French doors overlooking the balcony every morning. All rooms are quaint and pretty. Lovely furniture and comfy beds. The breakfast was delicious. The highlight was Josephine herself. A kind and warm lady who gave us great suggestions for day trips and 'things to do.' Rocco (her dog) was a real gem too!
This b&b truly is a home away from home. I would love to return one day soon but until then I shall recommend it to everyone I know.
Thanks josephine and Rocco!

I would like to say a very special thank you to both of you. You were perfect guests & someone should give you a big gold star for the amount you accomplished in your 5 days in Nice. Rocco also sends you a friendly wag of his tail.
Best Regards,
Josephine

We just loved staying with Josephine and Rocco the French dog. The apartment was beautiful and in a very convenient location for us, within walking distance from the train station and tram stops. Our blue room was prefect for the two of us and bigger than I anticipated. Breakfast each morning was a lovely treat, with pastries, bread, yoghurt and drinks. We enjoyed starting the day with a full breakfast and I really enjoyed this time getting to know the other guests staying at the same time as us. We appreciated having this time in the morning to gather recommendations and information from Josephine who was happy to share all her local knowledge. We enjoyed her beach recommendations and ate at the pizza place twice! Josephine was also happy to lend us beach gear (mats and umbrellas) for the day and any bus or train timetables we needed. We really loved our stay in Nice and will definitely stay with Josephine if she's still there when we return.

Josephine and her friendly dog Rocco are wonderful hosts, and as a girl travelling on my own, I felt safe and right at home during my stay in Nice. The apartment is in a great location, very close to the main train station and to the tram which gets you anywhere you want to go easily. Even coming back at night felt safe and was never too far away. Josephine was very helpful with suggestions on the best places to go, what buses to take, and even let me use her laptop to email when my phone broke. Breakfast was great, with fresh coffee and orange juice, bread and jam and good conversation with Josephine and the other guests. I never like to share bathrooms but it was always clean and the shower and toilet are separate so you never really have to wait for anyone. I had the Green Room - it was very comfortable, sunny and noise was never an issue for me. It was very hot in Nice this August but the AC worked well and kept me cool at night. You have a key to your room so even though it's a shared apartment, you feel secure all the time and the other guests I came across were very friendly and respected your space. If you feel like experiencing Nice in a way that almost makes you feel like you live there, this B+B is a perfect choice. Thanks Josephine!

Room Tip: The Green Room seems to be the furthest from the tram and therefore the quietest.

Thank you for all your kind comments. Actually, the Green room is closest to the tram, but the tram is a block away, it is not on my street. Most of the street noise here comes from the cafe across the road which closes at midnight. I would still highly recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper!
Best Regards,
Josephine

We stayed three nights during our honeymoon and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Josephine is a great host and her affectionate dog Rocco adds a nice touch to your day. The location is great, being a five minute walk to the train station and the old town is a very scenic twenty minute walk or you can hop on the tram. Breakfasts were fantastic, what with the combination of fresh croissants/baguettes and conversations. The shared bathrooms were also never an issue as the toilet is seperated from the shower so you never find yourselves having to wait. We had no issues with noise from the street, either. Bonus points for being eco-conscious too. Thanks!

I am delighted to hear you were so happy with your stay. Thank you for mentioning eco-conscious.
I recycle all plastic, glass & paper, & I appreciate it if guests re-use maps & public transport schedules. Also, all bed linen & towels are 100% cotton .
Thank you,
Josephine & rocco
