“Good Value Very Good Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2008

We stayed only one night at this hotel but would happily stay again on the next trip. Great location for walkers and close to the Place Massena.
We booked a twin room which was larger than the standard french hotel room with two very comfortable beds and an excellent bathroom.
The front desk staff were excellent, very helpful and accomodating with good english.
The price for value for the Hotel Lafayette was also excellent.

  • Liked — staff and room quality was first rate
  • Disliked — the two flights of stairs to get to reception.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel in February 2008.

We chose this hotel due to it's proximity to the city center. Not a five star hotel at all,but it did the job.

The room was small, but clean. The bathroom was also very small, but clean.

The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful.

The breakfast was typical French style. Not a wide choice, but quite delicious.

We liked the location and the friendly staff the most.

We didn't like the thin walls. We could here the next door neighbors.

All in all,a great little hotel with very friendly staff! Felt warm and comfortable!

Stayed for the 5th time at Hotel Lafayette in Nice.Very nice location and friendly staff, clean room.
The French lady in the reception was very nice and friendly.
The Hotel that not have that mucg rooms, so it is very friendly.

The location on the opposite road of Galleries Lafayette is fantastic and cloe to old town and Place Massena.
From the Hotel it is 10 minutes walk to the Plage(beach)
The rates of approx:100 Euroes a night is reasonable.
I warmly recomend it.

Regards
Stefan

My boyf and I had a comfortable stay here. The room was clean tidy and enough room. We had Sky but it was all in french - although there was CNN which was handy. Didn't spend that much time in our room as nice itself was FAB! We got breakfast on one day - it really wasn't worth the price and you can get cheaper elsewhere. The walls are paper thin and at one night we were woken up by a loud american man talking then who decided it would be a good idea to also take a shower at 3am (who does this!!) and it actually sounded like there was a thunderstorm outside! apart from that we had an enjoyable stay and i would def stay there again!

Our family of 5 chose this hotel based on the location and price. We stayed for 2 nights in July, 2008. Nice had the most expensive hotels of our entire European trip. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and helpful, there was a hot pot with coffee and tea in the rooms, there was free wi-fi and a free stand alone computer if you didn't have your own, and the location was within walking distance of the beach, old town, and pedestrian zone with lots of restaurants and boulangeries. On the down side, the walls were paper thin, the facilities looked old and drab, there was no place to park the car close to drop off the luggage (we parked on a side street illegally and hauled all the luggage up the street), the parking garage we found a few blocks away was 20 euro for 24 hours, the breakfast was not included, and the rooms were expensive. Having said all that, I think we would still choose to stay here based on the location and the fact that even though the rooms were expensive for what we were getting, they were much less than nicer hotels in the same area.

This is a small and friendly hotel in Nice. Reception is on the first floor and there is no lift. However the rooms are fairly spacious, clean and have air conditioning.
We stayed in a family room and it was more than adequate. There was no problem with noise from the streets, but we did hear people talking in neighbouring rooms or floors.
We were able to walk everywhere so it is in a good location.
The reception staff are very helpful. They speak good english.(one is a scotsman). Would recommend this hotel for a short stay in Nice.

This is a really nice hotel tucked away a few streets from the main promenade in Nice. Laid back and friendly but attentive if the need arises. More than happy to go out of the way to make your stay comfortable. Clean tidy rooms with regular maid service and modern facilities. These guys can cater for everything you need. The rooms have air con and are double glazed - which is good if you're on a lower floor as there are two main roads that bisect outside the hotel. Keep the balcony doors shut and the air con running and you'll be OK. The rooms have a TFT television and phone. The sanitation seems to be the variety that mulches the waste as you flush - it works though so no problem there. In essence you can't go wrong here and the hotel is very good value for money. Free and unlimited internet access through a desktop PC located down the hall. Vending machine in the entrance way. Reception is on the first floor; so if you have some heavy bags get some help as there doesn't seem to be a lift.
