“lovely hotel, very nice location, friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

We stayed at the Nice Riviera for 3 nights and had a very pleasant stay. We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and when we asked about places for dinner, drinks, etc, all of the staff within earshot were throwing out their suggestions. The rooms are small, but actually quite spacious for this part of Europe and I particularly liked that door separating the bedroom area from the bathroom/closet area. I also found the toiletries to be very fragrant and pleasant. My only complaint about the bathroom area is that the shower created quite a mess as there is only a half - door on the tub. Easy fix; just lay an extra towel on the floor to sop up the water. The rooms were very clean and I found the beds to be very comfortable! The room did get quite hot at night, despite us turning on the a/c, so we slept with the window open to allow some cool air in. The included breakfast was a huge plus and they had a nice variety of breads, pastries and also had eggs (although maybe instant), bacon, sausages, excellent fruit, yogurt, coffee, espresso ,etc. Considering the price of food in Nice, the included breakfast also adds a good value to the price of the hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast! I also enjoyed using the pool, hot tub, and sauna.

The location was great also. It was less than a 10 minute walk to old town (nice bars, flower market, etc) and to the promenade on the beach, and a very lovely park with beautiful views of the city. There was also a Christmas market just a few blocks away that had neat crafts and snacks. of course, there is shopping in every direction from the hotel, so just take a turn and have your pick! It is not a beach front property, but very close. The price of parking was 19 euro a day, which is consistent with other lots in the area (we paid 18 for a garage a couple of blocks away) so if you have a car, plan to add a pretty large chunk to parking. It would be nice if there was a discount on parking for people staying at the hotel, but I suppose charging quite a bit for parking is just an industry standard, so can't fault the hotel for that.

Overall, it is worthy of an "excellent" rating based on the money I spent and the service and standards of the hotel. I would surely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends.

The hotel is situated ideally for nearly every attraction in Nice. Easy walking to the beach, the old town, and Garibaldi Square near to the Museum of Modern Art. Public bus near to the hotel to take you up to the Chagall and Matisse Museums. Hotel staff very helpful when booking for a trip to Monaco, Monte Carlo and Ese - picked up from hotel. Hotel itself very clean, with comfortable rooms (especially the beds - excellent night's sleep). Very friendly staff who enjoyed our attempts at their language although all spoke and understood English. Useful to be able to book taxi to airport from hotel. Many places to eat around the hotel. The George very good for both meals and coffee. Hope to return some day.

Room Tip: All of our rooms were on the third floor and were great.

Very delayed in writing this review (may), so I've forgotten some things!but here goes..... Fab fab fab! The staff are brilliant and friendly and very very helpful! The hotel is lovely and at a good location. The spa is a plus and great to go back and relax to after a long day of touristy things. The rooms are lovely. We had a triple and the sofa bed was very comfy. This was a worry but it worked out perfect. This place is just soooo accommodating that I can't say anything bad!!! :)

Room Tip: Triple rooms have good space.

The location was superb, just a stone's throw from the beach, the old town, the flower market and Place Massena and also Galerie Lafayette.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The place was clean and bright and the car park below (extra charge) was a great bonus.

The pool was nice, so was the jacuzzi and the sauna, but the spa seemed a bit more of an add-on than an integral part of the hotel. Having said that it was perfectly adequate and very welcome after a day walking around Nice. We were provided with complimentary robes and slippers.

We had a standard room which was absolutely fine. Roomy enough and very clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and there was a mini bar (empty) as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

You can hire bikes all over Nice for a few euro and one of the drop off spots is right by the hotel.

Overall it was a great place to stay at a reasonable price for Nice and for the facilities it provided. I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a bath and were given exactly what we asked for, so just make sure you ask...

Amenities- The hotel has a grand entrance with a classy bar area next to a fire-lit lounge and classy interior. Behind this is the heated indoor swimming pool, hot tub, gym and sauna room. towels provided fr pool and rooms. The rooms have a small fridge, safe locker, complimentary toilettries, hair dryer and all the towels you will ever need. Room is cleaned daily and I left valuables in the room which were not disturbed. There are lifts and stairs to upstairs and good room service. There is also a restuarant although we always ate out.

staff- Really friendly all round, pretty good at speaking English although you'll find in Nice its best to try a hybrid of French and English to get respect and therefore the best service from the locals. The cleaners are very trust worthy.

Beds- Ours were twins pushed together and were very comfortable. Lots of pillows as standard and nice, clean bed sheets. The worst thing is trying to leave them in the morning.

location- Brilliant location. right next to the beautiful old town and the other side of the street is the main high street for all you shoppers. We walked everywhere apart from the Matisse museum which is right up the hill so bus for that one.

surrounding sights- Must see's are the numerous "wine caves", the Acropolis (often free events being held like classical music festivals etc), the chagall (free for under 26's, £2 for audio) and matisse museums (free entry), The lovely stone beach and promenade, the chateau on top of the Hill (follow the road montee montfort up), La cantine de Lulu's, Le 111 restaurant, and any small restaurants down the lanes in the old town. The "lanes" surrounding the Nice cathedral are an abundance of Italian and French influences so worth a look around. Find Bd Jean Jaures and turn down a side street and you'll find a whole new world.

Room Tip: Book a last minute deal on a website like lastminute.com. Weather is lovely all year round so you ca...

Just about to leave the best hotel and the best place I. The world. I wish we could stay forever. The hotel is a ten minute walk from the station down Avenue Jean Medecin. Keep left and the corner with a shop called Mango and opposite is Virgin Cafe, is the corner you turn left at. Your hotel is right in front of you one block up. It has a beautiful pool awaiting your weary legs. Well it was awaiting ours. We walked so much in London and Paris and this was our treat. Ahhhhh. So warm in the pool and even warmer in the spa. The weather in November is chilly in the morning and arvo but the days are perfect. Shopping is a real lure here. Not sure why. Every shop just begs you to come in. Haha. Food is everywhere and we loved Cafe L'Olympia across the road. They did an omelette cafe creme croissant and juice for €9.30 each. Great for brekkie. Great for lunch but then only coffees served. We stopped every day for about 4 coffees. On the road as you turn right from the hotel (Rue Pastorelli) and 2 blocks up is a laundry. Right there on the corner. You won't miss is. A cafe if just next door so grab a coffee while you wait. The casino on the beach front doesn't really have a dress code although you must be neat, but remember your passport or it's back to the hotel like us dummies. Reception never had a sour face. Every single person we came across was so friendly. Greeting you as you left and arrived back. Keep up the good work all you people.

Room Tip: We had a superior room which gave us a couch to sit on as well as a mini bar fridge which came with...

I rate this hotel 3,5 tripadvisor points because this proprety has some aspects that can be improved.
First of all the walls are paper thin so if you are light spleeper it's not a good choice, bathroom is too small for a 4 stars and amenities are not enough for two peole (only one shampoo, one shower gel and one body lotion), the hotel parking is expensive (19E per day) and the automatic door often has problem on opening, the jacuzzi in the small spa area was dirty.
The good aspects are the very confortable bed, the kind staff, the excellent breackfast, the good location and the fact that they are pet friendly.

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for taking time to share your experience of Nice Riviera and for your nice comments. But we are sorry to read that you did not get entire satisfaction of your stay with us.

As the parking is concerned it's price is not as expensive as you wrote, considering that it is for 24h. Prices of the public parkings around are more expensive.

Concerning the Fragonnard bathroom amenities, shampoo, shower gel and body lotion are provided in a two person dose, they are refilled by the housekeeper every day if they are used.

Once again thank you for having left your comment on TripAdvisor.
