“A nice hotel in Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Spent four nights here recently and although rooms were a bit basic everything you needed was there apart from maybe a drawer or two. The room was freshly decorated and the beds were very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean. A little discerning to have paper cups on the refreshments tray but at least milk was provided and decaff coffee which is sometimes hard to find in French hotels. After an early flight we arrived at the hotel about 11.00 am and our rooms were ready which was a bonus. The hotel was right on the seafront and ideally situated. Staff were very helpful and breakfast was good.

Room Tip: We didn't have a sea view, however, if we went again would definitely pay extra for the stunning...

The Mercure was a very well done Hotel with helpful, congenial and multilingual staff. Our second floor room was facing the street and ocean at a reasonable cost considering the location along the promenade. The promenade is very pretty. Because I had not slept for a day and a half I had difficulty locating the hotels Marquee, until I went down the side street off the main road in front of the Hotel the GPS was right but I did not see the sign. The hotel has different Hotel names and a Casino from the main street. The issues were mine, once we found the hotel I wished we would have had more than one night there. The street restaurants nearby were good and priced as you would expect for the location. Mini Paris with ocean views OOOLLaala! If I were to give anyone advice it would be to walk all around the city do not get a car to travel to Monaco ( Crazy Busy! what do they all do there?) Take a tour bus there walk the Promenade and the Monaco shops and leave the car at the rental lot until you leave town.

Room Tip: Ask for ocean views cost more but worth it.

We had a great time at Mercure i August 2012 - which was our second stay at this hotel. It's a very convenient public parking just beside the hotel, if you arrive by car. We were greeted by two friendly and cheerful male receptionist who offered us a free upgrade from a superior room with partial sew view to a full seafront deluxe room! What a pleasant surprise!

The room om the 5th floor had a breathtaking view of the sea, beach and the lively Promenade des Anglais. The room decor was cool and trendy, but maybe not very practical (toilet, shower and sink in 3 different rooms).

In addition to being practically on the beach, you'll have the city center with loads of shops and restaurants on the other side of the hotel, and a short walking distance to the charming old town of Nice. Excellent!

So, as per all my reviews, it's all about expectations. I expected a nice 3-4 star clean hotel, by the beach. And it was!

The hotel is bare basics - reception, breakfast, and newly renovated rooms. Clean, well kept, friendly and helpful staff. The location is amazing. Smack between old town and new town, and right on the beach.

I was considering booking at Le Meridien which is 3x the cost of this hotel and when we arrived, I realised it's actually in the same building! Handy hint: go to the bar on the roof - amazingly breathtaking views.

We booked a city view room, but were really lucky that our room was two down from the beach facing rooms so we could see the beach and promenade!

Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I think we were in room #330 (or #303?) which is on the highest floor of the Mercure and whilst it w...

Site and view of beach were both great and room very nice with new decoration, better than Novotels we have used.
No bar or lounge to sit in was a disadvantage so had to dine out. Breakfast ok.
Staff at reception were pleasant and helpful. No frills service but good value otherwise. Nespresso machine was a nice addition.

We're chosing this hotel because we think that it is one of the value for money hotel, considering the location at the promenade de anglais. Besides, the picture provided was awesome. Yes at the realization, we got a room with terrible view (no beach, just concrete and other building's window - people mentioned that it's better on the upper floor room though), but we're not that picky either, as long as the room is clean, nice, spacious and doesn't look worn out. The location is superb, a few steps from the beach, and there's bus stop to the airport just in front of the hotel- so it was very convenient.

Stay here if you must. It's in a great location, but that's where the greatness ends! Our room stunk like feet and there was a plumbing problem that is too icky to discuss. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but the continental breakfast was better than most I have to say. The balcony is a nice addition, but it doesn't feel safe to leave the doors open since all balconies are far too accessible to each other. Stay elsewhere if possible, or ask to see (smell) the room first!
