“Very tired hotel!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2012

Just returned from the NH Hotel in Nice and very disappointed with the lack of service, friendliness and overall standard of this Hotel. We arrived on the Monday night and told that the pool would be open the next day, turns out the pool was so dirty on the friday that other guests complained and they closed the pool to clean it. There were no towels at the pool and we had to use our bedroom towels. We found that the staff were not friendly or helpful especially in the dining room. The shower in our Junior Suite was broken and leaked all over the floor when using it. There was no table, chair or sideboard in the bedroom to place clothes etc. Considering this is a 4* hotel and we paid extra for a junior suite we felt the standard was very poor. The dining room was open till 10am and at 9am there was no fresh fruit and a shrug of the shoulders was the reply when we asked the head waiter. We stayed here last june and found the staff so much more helpful and the standards throughout the hotel were much higher, definately wont be back again.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a package for the Monaco Grand Prix. At first sight the area didn't look very appealing. There was a large open empty space nearby, which I believe sometimes holds a market, but without it looked like a car park. It is as others have said in a convenient location near the tram stop and there are lots of restaurants/bars and cafes nearby. Our first afternoon we walked down to the old town and beach stopping for coffee along the way. It's about a 20 min stroll. Our room was fine, functional, nothing particularly special. we did have tea/coffee and a mini bar in our room - or daughter who was on another floor did not. Nice is lovely, but Monaco is prettier still. we had a fab time at the race, despite the torrential rain at the end. The old town in Nice is lovely and there are many, many restaurants to choose from to eat at night. We returned to the hotel to have a nightcap after our meal and were told the bar was closed - at 11pm! Whether we were residents or not!
We did spend some time at the pool on the rooftop and some work needs doing there. The sunbeds are old and tatty and the pool was dirty. We were told there was no food there until June so had to get dressed and trek down to the restaurant on the ground floor for lunch. It looked like it might be nice around the food area if it was open as they had piles of pretty wicker chairs and tables piled up out of use. The hotel basically has a reception area and one large area which doubles as the restaurant and bar, so possibly more suited to business travellers than holiday makers.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms have tea/coffee facilities and are close to the rooftop pool.

I stayed at the NH Hotel in Nice for a business trip. It is very convenient for the Acropolis convention centre but that's about it. The air-conditioning did not work. The pool was filthy and although it appeared that there was work being done on it wasn't at all clear. On the one occasion that we used room service, it took several calls and with a long delay only to receive the wrong meal. Breakfast was OK but certainly not worth the 22 Euros charged but worst of all on one occasion people were turned away as there weren't enough tables - not great when you're on the way to a convention. I spoke to several people who had booked breakfast or, as in my case, had reserved a double room as a couple, only to find that that single rooms were provided or that the breakfast booking had not been made. The bar was infrequently staffed, so that we had to track down a member of staff to get a drink. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room (they were advertised). On arrival we found that we had only 6 coat-hangers in the wardrobe and requested some more (we were staying for 5 nights). Despite repeated requests, the extra coat-hangers never arrived.

These may all seem minor complaints but this is a four star hotel and is not cheap. At this price, I expect a four star experience. The Nice NH Hotel fell a long way short of this.

My wife and I stayed three nights at the NH Nice Hotel in April, 2012. Our first impression of the hotel was good. The multilingual front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our room on a non-smoking floor, but our room still smelled like smoke. We're pretty flexible, so we let it slide. Our room faced the busy street outside the hotel and that was a major issue. The first night, we could hardly sleep because ambulances and police cars were regularly screaming past the hotel. Evidently there is a hospital not far from the NH Nice. Great if you're injured, not great if you want sleep.

We asked to move to the back side of the hotel the next morning. Our new room was much better. It smelled better and was very quiet. If you stay here, be sure to ask for a room on the back side of the hotel.

The NH Nice's proximity to public transit is good. It is directly across the street from the Palais des Expositions tram stop. The tram runs all through Nice and has stops right near the beach. The neighborhood in which the hotel is located felt a little risky at night, with some questionable characters hanging around the adjacent park, but it was nothing too alarming. Just be alert when walking at night.

Pros:
Helpful staff
Convenient location
Good breakfast

Cons:
Potentially loud, smoky rooms
Questionable neighborhood

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back side of the hotel, away from the busy street. If you're sensitive to...

I have just returned from a two night stay at this lovely hotel, via Lastminute.com,as a top secret hotel. On arrival I was upgraded to a superior room, which was superb!I ate at the restaurant both evenings and would like to commend especially,Ulysse and Haitem in the restaurant. They were excellent in their jobs and I was delighted with my meals on both evenings! This hotel does a magnificent job and I was utterly satisfied with everything on my stay! The breakfast buffet was also sumptuous and plentiful, and the girls in the breakfast area are a delight also!
I cant wait to return in September for another short break. My best wishes go to the management and staff of this lovely hotel.See you in September!

Room Tip: Try for a room on the sixth floor!

We stayed here as part of a package booked for the Monaco Grand Prix. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, and the rooms very comfortable and clean, although I did miss not having tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was good, a wide selection of fruit/cereal/pastries plus hot food, bacon, egg, beans. The pool on the roof was a disappointment, the sunbeds were tired and the pool itself was filthy (the seagull did seem to enjoy his swim). The location was extremely convenient. The tram stopped outside which took you to the beach or the Old Town (1 Euro per journey). The train station for the journey into Monaco was a 10 minute walk and then a 20 minute train ride (Nice Riquier). There is a large supermarket on the way to the train station so you can stock up on water/juice/wine/beer and keep them in the fridge provided in the room. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a short break.
