“Nice property, some ups and downs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We stayed at the Villa Victoria one night each at the beginning and end of our trip to Provence. The first night we had Room 307 facing the garden; it was large, quiet, very clean with sizable shower. The bed had an uncomfortable layer of something rubbery -- perhaps a waterproof sheet -- which we were too tired to remove. Breakfast was impressive with hard-boiled (or do-it-yourself) eggs, pastries, fresh fruit including apples and bananas (although the bowl of berries was frozen), yogurts, juices and bread. The front desk was amazing as our luggage was lost due to a quick connecting flight. They made numerous calls to help us locate it. Both restaurants they recommended were good (Aux Deux Palmes was very nice; Le Bistrot de Vivier pricey but exceptional). Our room 108 on our return faced the street; most noise came from within the hotel (we heard toilets flushing next door and loud guests in the hallway). The bedding did not bother us but the tiny closet-like shower was an unpleasant surprise. The small flush on the toilet did not work but the larger one did. WiFi worked very well both in the room and in the lobby. As for location the hotel is situated about 10 minutes from the train; the walk is level except for a ramp as you near the station itself. You are also only 5 blocks from the ocean and the Promenade.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden-facing room and pay to include breakfast.

This is the first time I have felt the need to feedback following a visit to a hotel we have chosen via advice from tripadvisor. Charming hotel in a great location; 10 minutes from airport and within walking distance of old town. Hotel very clean with lovely garden where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning. Each and everyone of the hotel staff were so helpful. We would definitely visit again

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden would be quieter

The Villa Victoria is in a perfect location to explore Nice. I had a room on the 3rd floor overlooking the charming garden. It was very quiet for a hotel room in a city location. My friends had a room overlooking the street and experienced street noise, but not enough to keep them awake. The room was very clean and comfortable. We did not take advantage of the breakfast in the morning, preferring to have a less expensive, continental breakfast in one of the cafes on the pedestrian mall so that we could watch people go by. The rail station is within walking distance of the hotel and we took a day trip to Monaco, which is only about 30 minutes away. The staff was very helpful with directions and answering our innumerable questions. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, pay extra and get a garden view room.

We stayed at Villa Victoria two nights in October 2013 prior and after our cruise and were impressed withnwhat we got for a quite reasonable price: the location was good (quiet, yet close enough to the beach & shopping), the room was a decent size and the breakfast, which we had in a lovely garden with the resident cat Victoria, was very good - even my husband's gluten free diet was well catered for. In addition, the service was excellent - we even got our room before 9 a.m. in the morning after we got back from our cruise.

This lovely small hotel in Nice is in a great location -- walking distance to most of what you want to see and do in Nice. The staff are the friendliest and most helpful that we have encountered anywhere. And the price was very competitive. If we return to Nice, I would be delighted to stay with them again.

Room Tip: Can't help you there.

We booked this hotel after reading the excellent feedback on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed. We had an early flight so got to the hotel about 11am and even though our room wasn't ready (we didn't expect it to be) they took our luggage and checked us in. We went back about 3pm and the room was ready and our luggage in the room waiting for us. The room was lovely, much bigger than expected with a large, spotless bathroom with bath and shower. We had a garden view and it was so peaceful we had a siesta after such an early start!!
The location is amazing, short walk to everything. We were only there two nights so walked to old town on first day and night (eat in carpe dium, old town, gorgeous!) and then walked short way to train station from hotel second day and caught train to Villefranche which is absolutely beautiful as well! The staff at the hotel were lovely and very friendly and breakfast was great, with so much choice.
Breakfast started at 6.45 so we could even enjoy this before our early return flight.
There are free coffee and pastries in the afternoon and I could access free wifi in our first floor room. On our first day we sat in the pretty suntrap garden after out siesta and had a couple of drinks (from local supermarket!) sat on the garden swing, it was just so relaxing!
This was a perfect escape for our first trip abroad without our little children, v romantic and relaxing. Nice is such a beautiful city, we've already booked again for June and friends have already booked this hotel after our recommendation.
Enjoy!
