“Viola!!! What a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2014

Viola!!! What a view…I would loved to be @ the room sitout for ever watching the sea of people and lovely dogs walk, cycle and jog past. Needless to say the USP of this property is the view it offers as it overlooks the Promenade des Anglais. So definitely opt for Sea View Rooms watch the different shades and moods of the Mediterranean Sea at various hours of day.
Check in is smooth and fast, we requested for higher floor rooms but we were not obliged as they were running full house on Easter weekend.
Rooms are very spacious and well appointed, but watch out the towel and toiletry refills are far from sufficient despite requests. Hard to believe that Radisson is cutting corners, so I think necessary for management to look into these details to ensure guest comfort.
Breakfast spread is superb with plethora and choices. The staff is very cordial, attentive and friendly. They prepare some excellent omelets on request which is part of buffet, but if you ask omelets with tomatoes and cheese, they use tomato puree, which is indeed different and yummy. It would noteworthy to mention here they churn out excellent brownies. Patisserie output is another wow factor of this property.
Property is very close to airport, I guess about 2 Kms or so. Suggest it would be nice gesture on part of hotel to have regular fixed time shuttle service to airport and city center. It would be pertinent to share here that city center is about 4.5 Kms walk, so folks who do not like walking would have use a bus or cab to get there. There is a well stocked Carrfour Express counter just the lane behind for any immediate needs.
Now let me get to the unpleasant part of our four days stay. Avoid the Concierge desk if you have an option. They are curt and to the point and do not indulge in any extra conversation. Infact, when we asked the question “How do we get to Monte Carlo”. Concierge desk replied “what is this type of question”. I was aghast and wondering if I had said something incorrect, then I reframed my question asking “How do we get to Monte Carlo using public transport” The person handed over a sheet of paper, which ofcourse just no info as to how reach Monte Carlo but how reach railways station (with incorrect direction of bus and bus no) and Le Port. We understood at that moment that they were only interested in providing facilitation to guest who wishe to book cabs/taxis. Our next encounter with Concierge desk was no better, when we asked the person to get us a cab to the airport. He checked outside and found none and vanished into thin air. After a couple of minutes another person replaced him, who ofcourse took the effort of asking us what help we needed. We mentioned we had requested for help for arranging a cab about 5 minutes back, he retorting back there was mis-communication and went fetch the cab. It was little hard for us to understand, nevertheless we got the cab.
I would select a property closer to the city center overlooking Promenade des Anglais as there are many options w.r.t. well known chain hotels.

This hotel is very nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfectly clean and has good facilities. The worst aspect is allowing dogs into the dining areas. We found this to be very unhygienic. The hotel is a fair distance from the main town but is close to the airport.

Nice hotel; very nice room; and good customer service. The breakfast is not worth the €22/person- it's the European standard: no on the spot omelette or pancake chef. Avoid buying water here! A large bottle of Evian cost us €8.00. Do yourself a favor and go to the gas station around the corner! Two large bottles of water cost us €1.20.

Overall the hotel was clean and modern. The staff was very helpful and always friendly and polite. Everyone spoke English which is good because my French leaves much to be desired. The room was comfortable and clean. May I recommend the masseuse as she worked wonders. That was the best part of the stay.

The hotel staff was great, the food and services were well done and my wife and I had a great time here. The staff was also helpful when we needed directions. And, they were fun. I should have complained about the people next door making to much noise at 3:00 in the morning, but didn't so I have only myself to blame.

Overall we found the Radisson Blu in Nice to be a wonderful hotel. Stayed there last week for 4 nights and had booked a delux sea view room. The view was amazing, I was a little let down by the size and the décor of the room considering I had booked a 'delux' room, but the view was fantastic and more than made up for this. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with a huge array of foods to choose from, so you were more than spoiled for choice. The weather was so good we ate our breakfast outside every morning. The rooftop pool was lovely with plenty of sunloungers and fresh towels available at all times of the day. We decided to treat ourselves to a beer and mojito at the pool but the barman said he had no mint and would make us a far better cocktail than a mojito. When he came with the drinks, the tab was almost €26, the cocktail alone was €16!!!!! major shock. Won't be doing that again, expensive lesson learned.
The biggest downside to the hotel is the location, it is 5km from the 'centre' of things as in good restaurants etc. It is a very pleasant walk on the promenade on the way out to dinner but not so nice on the way back. Buses seem to stop running at 9.00pm and there is a decidedly seedy feel to the opposite side of the promenade. What they don't tell you about in any reviews or guide books is the very open prostitution, we counted 20 one night waling back to the hotel. Every single bus stop and street corner had at least one 'lady of the night' plying her trade.
Taxis are a rip off from the main Rue Massena area back to the hotel at €20 a go, you would fel the pinch of that pretty quick if you were to do it every night.
The hotel has some lovely bikes for rent, at €20 for full day or €10 for half day, we rented them one day and returned to the hotel after a lovely day out but kept the bikes and went back out on them again for dinner. There were no restrictions on the times you had to return them
Whilst, it really is a lovely hotel, the location would perhaps have me looking at other places to stay in Nice when we return

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are superb with no street noise at all
