“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

We stayed here from September 21st until the 24th. The hotel has a perfect location. Upon arriving, Roberto (front desk staff person) was able to get us a room facing the ocean with a terrace. His customer service alone made the stay worthwhile! We loved the breakfast and our room was spacious, comfortable, and very well air conditioned. You should also note that we received absolutely stellar restaurant recommendations from hotel staff (typically off the beaten path). We stayed in our last night (as we had to be at the airport the next day at 6am) and ordered room service. Georges brought us a wonderful meal and was absolutely delightful.

We have been fortunate to stay at a number of luxury hotels internationally, but quite honestly, this was the best. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

If you are as lucky as I am and got a corner room (actually suite) on the top floor of this hotel, you are in for a real treat, Tastefully decorated in a minimalist style, large bathroom, separate dressing area. However the highlight is the huge terrace, with breathtaking views of the sea, the mountains, and the city, the management has not forgotten to equip it with two chaise longs and a table for 4 for those sun worshippers.

The view in itself closes the deal, you may even be tempted not to leave your room for the duration of your stay. However, the service is excellent, the management led by Mr. Bandana, who sent a personal hand written note, wishing me a great stay, was a nice touch. The breakfast was just about adequate (in its variety) in a hotel of this standard, but that won't prevent me from giving this hotel 5 stars, giving the excellent level of service by all members of the staff from the reception to the restaurants, and the rooms.

Room Tip: 9th floor front corner room !

The location is great. The hotel not so much. The entrance is sandwiched between a McDonald's and a car hire service. The reception seemed to be under staffed and lack knowledge of the sounding area. So don't put your faith in the front desk for a restaurant recommendation they only seem to know few places and whilst they are ok, given the area there are better. Do your homework before you arrive in Nice. Other than a taxi you really need to push the front desk for travel information as well.

The WIFI is free in the common areas by reception which is OK, but if you want a quiet area to have a quick con call forget it, the music being played is really too loud.

The swimming pool and gym times are restricted and close at 19:00, which seems pointless for a business hotel. Yes the location of the hotel is right next to the beach but frankly not everyone wants to swim in the sea.

Apart from the roof terrace there is no outside space which seems a shame if you don't have a room with a balcony.

My room was clean, but the decor was beyond boring and frankly the whole hotel could do with a little refresh to push it up a level. But overall the hotel is OK.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view you will need to pay for it, the higher the floor level the less nois...

Dear K C
Firstly, thank you for choosing to stay at Le Méridien Nice for your business trip.
We are delighted that you enjoyed our great location.
However, I regret that you found the front office team lacking local knowledge. As you mentioned they seemed under-staffed, I can only presume that you were looking for information at a busy check-in / check-out time. In this case, a quick phone call from your room to the Guest Service Desk, on hand to answer any queries, give information and make reservations etc would do the trick.
Hotel guests are able to gain free access to the fitness centre after opening hours by using their room key. The gym is therefore accessible from 7am through to 10 pm.
Hoping to be able to welcome you back to Le Méridien Nice.
Best regards

We obtained a good deal for this hotel through BA flight & hotel offer. Brilliantly situated on the Promenade and next to all attractions.
Made use of the roof top pool (water not cold).
Made the mistake of purchasing a beer and glass of wine on rooftop terrace. Extortionately priced at 25 euros for the order.
The feeling that I got was that the size of the hotel coupled with conference delegates makes it all seem a little impersonal.
That having been said, we would almost certainly return.

Nothing on Cote d'azur is value for money but one should know that before going. We got an upgrade to a suite on the top floor with a large terrace overlooking the ocean which was amazing.
The location is perfect for exploring the shopping and eating action in Nice. You can get by without using taxis for a few days.

For a top end suite they should definitely give the deck furniture a coat of varnish but that won't stop you from spending a lot of time sunning. The pool is convenient but small and not much space to lounge around the pool comfortably. Surprisingly they have no relationship with a bar or deck chairs on the beach so that is a lot more money (£22 per person just to use a chair). Room had a fancy espresso maker but no kettle for making tea.

There aren't a lot of staff scrambling around to help you but I didn't find any place in the region that really had that. Check in and out was fast, friendly and efficient. I still highly recommend this as one of the best options in Nice for a few days.

From the friendly, efficient check-in to the prompt hassle free check-out our stay was first class.

My wife and I have just returned from a short break to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary and would have no hesitation in recommending Le Meridien to anyone looking for a high quality hotel in one of the best locations in Nice.

Yes, the minibar prices were perhaps over the top and WIFI costs excessive in this day and age but these services are there should you you need them, it's not a hidden cost.

Our room was immaculate on arrival and serviced efficiently during our stay. Breakfast was as good as we have experienced in many years of travelling. Buffet Breakfast of eggs, bacon sausage and hash browns with toast, pastries, crepes cereals, fruits and more. As mentioned below attended to by an "army of staff". Why previous reviewers have criticised breakfast is beyond me.

Regrets ? our short break was too short,

I would highly recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Room Tip: Watching the sun come up over "le Chateau" from a "deluxe garden and sea view" r...

We spent a week at The Meridian in September paying extra for a sea view room.

The hotel in general was excellent with good friendly service and a very comfortable room.

We travelled by rail which was also fun taking the Eurostar Paris and then a TGV to Nice.

The only disappointment was expected from previous tripadvisor reviews - the rooftop terrace and pool. Firstly, there is only seating for 4/5 people by the pool - space is limited but it does detract from the amenity and perhaps something should be done to reorganise the space around the pool area. Second, the service on the Terrace was poor compared to the rest of the hotel. Guests appeared to be ignored in favour of chatting with colleagues. You got the impression that the Terrace staff felt they were more important than their guests! Not a major issue but we would have spent more time (and money) there if we had received a warmer and friendlier welcome!

But apart fro this we would recommend the hotel as a base for exploring nice and the surrounding area.

Room Tip: There are so many different room types - the higher floors 7, 8 and 9 have proper balconies but belo...
