We stopped by this almost hidden little restaurant on a Monday and were delighted to find it open when everywhere else seemed to be closed.
We ordered the wine which was pronounced delicious, and chose our three course set meal from the pasta menu, as the choice seemed interesting. When the waitress delivered four Ritz crackers with a dab of cheese as an amuse bouche I think the alarm bell should have started.
We both started with the artichoke salad which turned out to be tough raw shredded artichoke, sitting on a Parmesan pancake, and hoped for better things from the main course. I got a bowl of tasteless tagliatelle with chopped raw courgette and tomato, a very few small pieces of cooked salmon and no trace of the advertised saffron- my reason for choosing it.My husband ordered ravioli, which was obviously factory made, bathed in a commercial tomato sauce.both fairly tasteless.
The accompanying bowl of yellow dust neither smelt or tasted of anything cheese like. The desserts were equally depressing, tasteless tiramisu for him, and a sliced orange and a blob of Icecream for me.
All in all a perfect example of a restaurant which does not actually cook anything. All the dishes we had were either bought in preprepared, and like the ravioli readily available from any supermarket.
We left feeling angry and cheated. How does a place like this survive?
PS The bread and wine were good,
