I didn't find Les Amoureux on a website or a resturant guide, I was ordered to go by the local I was staying with, they both immediately agreed this was the place, this was where the British tourist had to go to educate himself on good, proper italian pizza. It did not disappoint.
You must book in advance or face waiting a while.
The restaurant itself is quite small and incredibly unpretentious although the walls a littered with awards and certificates in quite a casual way... All good signs in my book.
The menu is covers all the bases pizza wise and there were a number of desserts I regretted not trying.
The Pizzas themselves are made out of a nice soft break covered in a light and natural/refined tasting tomato sauce and a generous amount of toppings. The Pizzas are great but not stiff enough to pick up and eat with your hands, which was not an issue, its not that kind of place, but some reviewers did seem to take issue with the pizza base.
The service was EXCELLENT. The couple that run the place are very warm and friendly and made me feel extremely welcome even with my utter lack of french or italian. I feel like going back just because of them.
I foolishly decided to experiement and try something called a SansBitter. Don't do it, it really is bitter! :)
