I stayed at the Pastorelle for three nights before moving to a hotel in downtown Nice. La Pastorelle is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood which is elevated and has a beautiful view. It is a long walk to central Nice so having a car certainly helps. Public transport is not too bad in Nice but still a bit inconvenient.
The owners, Andre and Eric, are very friendly and hospitable. They have two dogs who are small and outgoing, to say the least. When I stayed there, two children who were afraid of dogs were staying at the hotel and but Eric and Andre made an effort to separate the (harmless) dogs from the kids.
My room was not large but large enough and nicely decorated. The bathroom looked brand new and had some type of modern (eco friendly?) WC which was very noisy when flushing.
The walls were quite thin so light sleepers should probably bring earplugs. Fortunately, the other guests at the hotel were very quiet during my stay,
The garden is pretty and has a pool that was not used during my stay due to chilly weather. Wireless internet was free of charge and worked well.
Breakfast was served every morning at a long table in the dining room and provided a nice opportunity to talk to the other guests.
I might very well stay here next time I am in Nice.
