“Amazing fireplace grilled meat in a rustic setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

There is only a limited choice regarding your meal at La Chaumiere, beef, lamb or chicken. The rest is a fixed price menu consisting of excellent Parma ham, home made paté, pickeled mushrooms, raw vegetables, then the main meat course served with baked potatoes, followed by a salad and an amazing chocolate mousse (or a warm apple pie served with incrdible thick cream from Normandy). Everything is fantastic, especially the beef which is cooked to perfection in the majestic fireplace which dominates the room. The wine list is excellent, and the owner/sommelier is very knwledgeable. The experience is really unique considering you are a very short drive from Monaco and Nice, it's like being transported in the middle of the countryside. Not cheap but really worth it.

“510 euro (5 five people) for an average dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2011

We had vegetables as starter, some crème fraiche, melon and Parma ham, some aubergine tapenade, grilled meat and potatoes + salad (really cheap and looking bad like a liquid white soup made of vegetables mixed with crème fraiche (yes, creme freche again!)
One red wine bottle (about 60 euro and it was one of the cheapest from the wine card) + one half red same wine bottle (about 30 or 40 euros)
5 dessert (creme brulè and sliced strawberry with sour cream)
Plus 2 bolltes of EVIAN water
It's a tourist trap.
Service really bad (like a low cost restaurant). We had to ask many many times for water, bread, wine and the bill as well.We had to wait 10 minute for the bread.

We payed 500 euro ordering "a la carte" .....500, can you imagine (!?)
Now we know a restaurant to avoid
Experience : frustrating

“Such an amazing and unique restaurant !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2011

It's amazing how can some people be rude ! It was a really great moment I spent at La Chaumiere eating with my wife. Staff's so welcoming ! Food is so amazing ! Of course, it's not a 4 stars Michelin restaurant, can't be as it's a family restaurant with only 1 menu course and only 1 waitress. It's a really good restaurant when you want to spend good and quiet time with friends. You can imagine you're at your grandma's in front of the chimney. Funny thought by the way... A bit expensive of course, but you know why!, excellent and expensive products. The best meat ever !!!!!
