We sat at a table that gives on to the famous Promenade des Anglais. It was a nice sunny day and we sat contemplating the action right before our eyes. Groups of tourists, visiting students with teachers or guides, young lovers hand in hand, veiled Arab women pushing their baby carts, some beggars, an older man with roses offering them to middle aged couples for a tip, and hordes of other spontaneous human spectacles. On the street, the action was busy with a contrast of vehicles from mini smart cars to some Harley Davidsons, and then Bentleys, and a stylish Lamborghini. The show ended when the server brought us our food: I ordered pineapple caramelized scallops and my guest had a grilled lobster "a la creme de corail." Another customer from Holland, sitting at a table next to us, had a filet of duck a l'orange with grand marnier. I heard him raving about his choice to the waiter with his compliments to the chef. We finished our meal with two wonderful desserts: millefeuilles with strawberies and baba au rhum. Then we ordered coffee and went back to watching the colorful parade on the avenue!
