We had intended on eating paella at least once during our trip to Nice and decided to try Chez Mireille, mainly based on TA reviews - what a great choice it turned out to be.
The restaurant is a 20-30 minute walk (depending on how much window shopping you do down the main street) from the Old Town and is located close to the train station. It was definitely worth the walk - the paella was quite simply the best we've ever had. Extremely friendly staff - we felt very welcome.
After ordering two bottles of wine that the restaurant didn't have, the waitress insisted on giving us a 2003 vintage Bordeux at a cut price - excellent customer care. The food was served in front of our eyes - it looked and tasted excellent.
The prices are very reasonable - the paella is €21.50 per person, bottles of wine €20-35, and glasses of Sangria just €2.50 each. If you're wanting Paella whilst in Nice, this is the place for it!
Note: Paella is their speciality dish and rightly so - if I remember correctly, there were no other options on the menu...but really, why would you want anything else? :)
Tip: book a table to be on the safe side. We rang a couple of hours before and got one without a problem, but it's not a big restaurant.
Tip: scrub up on the old French skills if you're not very fluent. This is not a restaurant overly filled with tourists - great authentic French feel to it.
Highly recommended - we'd love to go back!
