After surveying the surrounding restaurants I settled on this one as the staff seemed attentive and the menu diverse. We were seated at a table which was a little out of the way but this was no problem as it was slightly quieter. Unfortunately, this frontier seemed beyond the range of the waiting staff for most of the meal. It quickly became clear that the staff were particularly focussed on bringing in customers as opposed to serving already seated guests. The table cloth had cigarette burns and could have done with changing and the table was sporadically set on the lead up to our meal. The staff never seemed abrasive or malicious but were not particularly happy nor keen. Once the food was ordered it took a while to arrive. The food was excellent, however, with one paella which was brimming with seafood and one steak which was of a considerable size. Unfortunately the steak was slightly closer to medium than the rare requested but within the range of a chefs subjectivity. During eating we were never approached to enquire about our satisfaction with the meal (a box which even Nandos ticks). The only interaction we had during our meal was some chap trying to sell us some wood carvings (approximately 3 times and no staff seemed interesed that their customers were being bothered). The meal was cleared without any conversation and little curiousity (even fake) of our opinion. The bill was requested and received not entirely promptly.
This is a busy area with lots of restaurants serving great food. This place is really let down by it's service and you will find better elsewhere. The food alone does not carry Chez Freddy.
