Doesn't matter which cafe, bistro, or restaurant you visit in Nice, Cannes or Monaco, you will see the same items on the menus for exactly the same price; any traveller can check it out for themselves and we were certain there was price-fixing across all three resorts.
Salads, pizzas, soups, sandwiches; - all start at €11-13. Each menu displayed reflects the same, regardless of the standard of the place!
Even the 'cafes' in Monaco across the Marina charge €11-13 for a pizza or panini. These places get by on location only. On inspection, they are little more than Truck-Stop Grease Huts seen in Lay-bys around the UK, with plastic chairs outside.
Every basic meal costs a couple around €30 and is scraping by in terms of quality.
It is a little unfair that I have targeted this establishment for a particularly scathing review as it is no worse nor better than those found across The three resorts; but we did eat here and it does reflect the price & quality of the places In Nice, Monaco & Cannes. The higher end hotels charge differently and their standards reflect the high prices - that is expected and accepted. however, there is no justification for the lower end bistros to be operating a cartel!
Without highlighting what is going on, it will never change and tourists will continue to get a very raw deal!
