“A gem in the South of France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We stayed in the St Marguerite suite for three nights for our mini-moon. The room and the setting of Les Rosees is special. We were made to feel very welcome and if you want to explore the local area, the staff can suggest a number of places we would have never even known about.

Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight and we would recommend having dinner there - the menu changes daily and you never know quite what you are going to get, but we weren't disappointed with the 5 course meal!

An evening trip into Cannes only reaffirmed why it's best to avoid the overcrowded coastline and stick to the beautiful town of Mougins and its surrounding area.

Stayed in the Gypsy Suite as part of our honeymoon. The place was beautiful, quite wild and rustic but very nice. The whole suite was air conditioned which was perfect while it was so hot. Unfortunately one of the sinks in the bathroom didn't work and the toilet leaked but nothing major.

The staff were very friendly and attentive - they ran through the history of the house and the renovation which was really interesting. Breakfast was delicious, served beautifully every morning.

We ate there one night, although they forgot our reservation and although they managed to cater for us and the meal was delicious, the food they provided was not worth the €39 menu price tag!

When we came to pay the final bill they'd added additional drinks we hadn't had and also forgotten the free bottle of wine offered with our booking. I was also a little disappointed that our honeymoon wasn't even acknowledged despite us letting Mr & Mrs Smith know beforehand.

Overall a good experience but they didn't really go that extra step we'd hoped for, wouldn't let that put you off though.

Room Tip: Gypsy Suite

We stayed at The Beautiful ' Les Rosees' for 5 nights in July 2013. Our 15yr old son was with us & he also really loved the place. The house just captures you with all of its charm & individuality. We had the loft room which was spacious & cosy/comfortable, with fab/functional bathroom. Opening the windows to gorgeous views. The whole house is so homely & exceptionally clean for an old property and lots of lovely fragrances everywhere you step. Outside is tranquil & pretty & with all that you need for a relaxing holiday. Breakfast was so beautifully laid out on the terrace every morning with yummy fresh foods. Attention to detail in every way is spot on but with such a relaxed approach & atmosphere.
Last but not least I would like to thank all the team at Les Rosees who make the place what it is and make sure you have literally everything you could ask for without intruding. After 5 days I certainly was not ready to leave & had a tear in my eye when saying my goodbyes!!! Samantha John & Josh Clayton

Having just returned from a week here I can honestly say from the moment we arrived until the second we left the place was superb. We initially stayed in one of their suites in the main house Saint Honorat for one night before moving to the Gypsy suite. Whilt Saint Honorat was lovely, the Gypsey was so adorable and private as its in the garden completely secluded from the main house. We ate once in the hotel (food was superb). Locally sourced and chosen on the day at the market. Breakfasts each day too were superb. But what really made it was the staff. They could not do more (all of them) to make this special. Not like some chain hotel where it's all fake smiles. They genuinely all cared.

My advice if you go. Plan nothing and take the staff's advice on where to go as they have some much local knowledge they can tell you of some real French gems to make your trip extra special.

Mougins, the local town, is a 15/20 min steep hill walk but very pleasant with a wealth of restaurants you won't get bored of.

If you knew my wife, lovely that she is, you'd be shocked to learn that she stayed in a caravan ... and was delighted to do so … on our recent trip to the south of France Her idea of roughing it is a hotel room without WIFI.
But wait. This wasn't just any caravan. And Les Rosees isn't just any holiday property.
The main house is a grand affair decorated with items that intrigue and amuse. A smile, gasp or sigh at every turn.
The swimming pool, carved into a hillside, has an unpretentiousness that makes sunbathing - my favourite holiday past time - seem more a noble hobby than a lazing of hours.
Oh, and the food. Forget that this summer marks Les Rosees’ first foray into the culinary world. Never mind that the menu is priced reasonably, particularly for the area. It doesn’t matter that you can dine on a veranda that offers an unfolding view of the grounds.
The difference here is the smell … and the taste … and the visual delight of some of the freshest food you’ll find in Mougins, a town synonymous with fine dining.
The credit for Les Rosees’ almost instant success goes to Sylvie. She’s a spark of inspiration who bases her delicious three-course-meals on what she likes at the local markets.
Our initial dinner was so outstanding, we changed plans and opted to eat at Les Rosees exclusively, rather than sample one of Mougin’s renowned restaurants.
Now, on to the caravan. I have to admit that when I first saw it, I figured we’d be seeking an upgrade or a shift to another property. From the outside, the Romany caravan is quaint, colourful and full of personality.
Initial impressions can’t prepare you for the caravan’s interior. Like the main house, it’s dotted with intriguing knick-knacks. These I would have expected. However, I wasn’t ready for air-conditioning throughout, a spacious bathroom with a bathtub deep enough to drown a horse, and a huge comfortable bed. Plus, from the front porch, you have access to a private garden whose viewing negates the need for modern distractions, such as TV.
A word of warning – mosquitoes. They don’t bother me. However, if you, like my wife have the kind of perfumed plasma that attracts these blood-sucking buggers, I suggest you come prepared.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the staff. They’re attentive without being intrusive, and let you know immediately that nothing’s too much trouble for them. One senior staff member, who has worked there for seven years, told me that Les Rosees defies the seasonal routine; they’re busy entertaining guests year-round. One visit and you’ll see why people make the effort to make the trip.

Room Tip: Live on the edge...try the Romany caravan

While traveling through southern France, we decided to stay at Les Rosees, mostly as a result of reading so many positive reviews from different internet sites. What a fun property!. The house is charming, the top floor suite is absolutely perfect in every way. But the real treasure here is their staff, which in many ways, duplicates old world hospitality found so infrequently anywhere today. We stayed two nights in May 2013, as part of a two week vacation. The hotel is located conveniently to Nice or Cannes, and to many of the hillside villages as well. Next time, we plan to stay longer, wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. Don't miss the opportunity to interact with such a wonderful staff and the other guests in an intimate setting!

Room Tip: Top floor suite is large, open yet charming.

We planned a stay here as part of a trip to see the F1 in Monaco and were not disappointed. The hotel is nestled within beautifully tended gardens and feels quite removed from the hustle and bustle of nearby Cannes. The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly, our room (the garden apartment) was gorgeous and there were plenty of restaurants to choose from in the evening in Mougins, a 10 minute stroll away (uphill!). Would recommend for a long weekend break.
