“Bad, bad decor.. decent location and pleasant staff”
Stayed at the Helios for just one night (thankfully) and wouldn't exacty rush back. We booked a superior sea room through Venere for €190 and spent about half an hour trying to find the hotel as we naiively thought it would be on the seafront in Juan-les-Pins. Wrong! It's a block back, and the "sea view" involves looking across the rooftops of several other apartment blocks and hotels. The staff were friendly and helpful, however this did not make up for the fact that the decor was absolutely awful, and about 30 years out of date. Awful brown, 70's style tiling in the bathroom, and the bedspread, dresser and chairs were last in fashion while Elvis still played Vegas. on the plus side, it was spacious, clean (if a little dusty) and we had a mini bar to keep our snacks cold. The location was also very good, within a couple minute walk of all the bars and restaurants of Juan-les-Pins. We had a fun cocktail and watched the Brazilian band and dancers in PamPam's.
Juan-les-Pins is not as upscale as other resorts in South of France, and we only stayed here because we couldn't find anything in Antibes itself (which is lovely!). Cap D-Antibes is stunning, and some of the pricey hotels such as Juana and Eden Roc looked fab! On the upside, it's not as expensive, and is quite family-oriented. The beaches are sandy, clean, and best of all free!
