“Not convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2010

We had a room without a balcony, where the double bed filled the space with just enough room for our luggage. There is no nearby areas to walk to, you need to take a bus or use the car. The patio area is closed after 7pm so you cannot sit outside. This is an inexpensive place to stay and appears to cater to european vacationers who want the beach but not the whole Riviera scene. It is not convenient to sight seeing. Furnishings in our room were tired and the rug was stained. Staff are friendly but did not suggest things to do or how to get around.

This is a very silent hotel...It's a very relaxing place. Close to beach, and Nice of course. The rooms are like other hotels in France. Wall to wall carpent (light brown), small bathroom, no aircon, nice balcony. The pool is ok too.

If you got a car, you can park it in the basement.

Didn't see the staff that much, but I guess they were around..

We didnt have the breakfast, it was not included. We went to a nice bakery nearby.

I would not recommend this hotel to families with noisy children, I guess there is a "silent" policy in this hotel.... But it was ok for us.

The Beau Soleil is a small hotel located on a narrow alley just off the main street going from Antibes to Golfe Juan.
Front desk and other staff are friendly and helpful.
Rooms are, as almost always in France, smallish but well equipped. They have a stocked minibar, a (free) safe deposit box, a television, air conditioning, and from the reception you can get a cable to connect your laptop to the internet (free). The bathroom has a tub without shower curtain (!), a bidet, a toilet, a sink and a hair dryer. Our room also had a small balcony, for which we paid extra, with 2 chairs and a table looking out on the pool and the breakfast terrace. Everything was spotlessly clean.
Furthermore there's a garage free of charge and a few parking places in front of the hotel.
The breakfast is served as a buffet at 10 euro per person per day. There were rolls, croissants, pains au chocolat, various jams, cheese, ham, eggs, cereals, yoghurt, juices, coffee/tea/hot chocolate ... Really good value for money if you know that in the villages you pay upto 6.5 euro for one roll or croissant with jam, one hot drink and one orange juice.
We had a small 'issue' with the manager about the air conditioning which didn't function. We thought it was broke but apparently they hadn't yet turned it on because, as per their words, "the outside temperatures weren't of the sort that A/C was required". I explained that we had chosen their hotel just because of the fact that it offered A/C and there were no restrictions for the use of it mentioned in the various directories, nor on the website. They then turned it on for a few days, then turned it off again. By then it was our last but one day, so we didn't want to discuss this matter again.
This hotel is listed in the Relais du Silence directory. This means that both the hotel AND the surroundings are quiet. Well, this wasn't exactly true. First, there is the noise of the busy road behind the hotel during the day. Second, the planes landing on Nice Côte d'Azur airport start their landing procedure right above the hotel and this from 6 am until around midnight at the rate of one plane per 5 minutes or less! Not every day (I think it had to do with the weather conditions) but we've had this loud noise 8 days out of 12. This was really unpleasant.
The village of Golfe Juan is not very attractive. The beaches are nice, though. Especially the "Plages du Soleil", the ones that are on the far end of the village in the direction of Cannes.

  • Liked — We like small hotels
  • Disliked — The noise
