“It is necessary to visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

There are a lot of places with medieval architecture remained in Europe. But such unique as Eze - isn't enough. Its uniqueness is in it's distance location from the highway and it is high on the mountain. Therefore EZE isn't so strongly flooded by tourists and cars, as similar sights in Europe. It gives the chance not only to admire eyes, but also feel the spirit of the Middle Ages.
Best way to enjoy it - to have a lunch or dinner in any restaurant here. I recommend Chateau Eza - best view.

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

This little castle village (the castle is gone but the village remains) is my favourite part of la cote azur (but then I'm a history buff). The touristy stuff might be pricey but it is still fun to look around. Lots of the hotels have spectacular views, good exercise for the fit if you have time to do the hike down to the Med.

“Amazing old town on a hill, like stepping into a historic world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We stopped by Eze en route from Monaco to Nice, and were amazed to find such a well preserved, gorgeous old town perched on a hilltop. The streets wind around the hill, with cobblestone steps and walkways, and shops, art galleries, restaurants, and hotels lining the streets all throughout the town. The shops and galleries are all tasteful and scenic, with flowers, decorations, and displays enchanting visitors. This is a place to wander and enjoy.

Our only disappointment is the lack of sea views, which are either reserved for restaurants or are best seen from the garden attraction at the top of the town, which charges a fee (well worth it for the views).

The church is also a good meeting point, with a nice esplanade overlooking the valley.

This is a site not to be missed, and well worth a stop over!! Be forewarned that there are uphill walks, stairs, and uneven cobblestones throughout, so may not be ideal for everyone.

“STUNNING MEDIEVAL TOWN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

1. Eze is a medieval village set on top of a mountain.
2. Wear suitable footwear for sometimes steep climbs.
3. If staying in Chateau Eza, you check in at the bottom of the mountain where there is a small office next to the donkey and the entrance path to the town.
4. Staff from either hotel will come down and take your luggage up to the hotels for you. It’s all lifted by them, up and down again, so tip generously.
5. Eze is full of places to eat, you are spoiled for choice.
6. The town can be very busy due to the volume of tourists and day trippers.
7. In the evening and at night, the place is almost deserted and you can have a medieval village to yourself!
8. The views from the view points, especially from the exotic garden at the very top are stunning. You can see the French Riviera and point out towns, landmarks and geographic features.
9. There is a supermarket located at the bottom of Eze across the street.
10. Be aware that most cafes and bars close in the afternoon for a siesta.
11. The climb in the town isn’t too taxing at all.
12. Do not pay the extortionate prices to eat in the 2 hotel restaurants, there are cafes everywhere offering great, inexpensive food.
13. The tow is full of art galleries and art shops.
14. Water bottles will cost sometimes 3 or 4 euros each for small bottles.
15. Ask your driver, or stop on the road a few miles from Eze and enjoy the view of this medieval town on top of a mountain.

“awesome views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

a must place to visit but be warned if you are visiting in peak season go early it would be impossible to enjoy other wise, it is in a beautiful setting so much history and the medieval town is just so beautiful to walk round and take in the atmosphere and the old village , plenty of places to eat and drink , there is a charge if you want to go to the very top through the gardens its only 6 euros and it would be a crying shame if you did not pay the views have to be the best on the coast and there is a small contemplacent area worth the trouble to get to enjoy we did .
