We recently stayed at the Pierre et Vacances Cannes Beach property in Cannes, France (La Bocca district) and were disappointed with our stay. This is the sister propoerty next door to the Verrerie property.
The property is much cheaper than staying at a hotel, especially if you are a family with children and like to be close to the beach, as you can prepare simple meals in the apartment. There are several large supermarkets within a short driving distance to buy provisions.
The cleanliness of the property leaves much to be desired though. The walkways between reception and the comedy building are not washed down and the fencing obviously is never cleaned as it is covered in dust. The nylon floor covering in our apartment was dirty and sticky, so is obviously is never washed.
The comedy-building elevator does not align with the floors thus causing a safety hazard on entry and exit to the elevator.
I had booked a room apartment for 5 people, and requested via e-mail an apartment with two single beds in the 2nd bedroom as 5 adults would be staying. On check in I was told that such a room does not exist, even though it is described on the Internet site. I asked for a larger room but was told I had the largest in the building. My biggest complaint about the apartment is the size of the second bedroom, which although I think is suitable for children, is really just too small for adults. (It has small bunk beds and is very cramped measuring only about 1.5 by 2 metres! with no natural light). Hence I think that the apartment has a capacity of 4 adults and 2 children rather than 6 persons. The apartment lacks a washing machine, hairdryer and kettle and tea cups, although everything else is provided including a dish washer.
The pool is good for children, but gets very crowded and is only open from from 9-8pm. We normally went sightseeing before 9am and did not return until around 8pm, so too late for a swim. Parking is underground, secure and costs 41 Euros a week.
Staff at the hotel do not seem very reactive and when I said that the fire notice that should be on the back of our apartment entrance door was missing, they just shrugged. It was only when I highlighted that this is a fire regulation violation that maintenance came to replace the notice. I am not sure if this is a one off incident? I get the impression that the management of this building does not care very much about maintenance and keeping things clean.
