“Basic with a few ups and downs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2014

Stayed with 4 people for 2 nights in the studio apartment room with a kitchenette, bathroom, queen bed and bunkbed, tv with dresser, and balcony with a drying rack. Kitchenette has a couple pots and pans with plates and cutlery, coffee machine, microwave, mini fridge, and 2 electric stove burners. Can't comment on much from the kitchen area since we didn't use much of it other than the microwave and sink. We did not have room cleaning service since it was a 2 night stay. The bunk-bed was in a small closet-sized "room" which might make a few people uncomfortable, however it was OK. Front desk was very very helpful and friendly with the man speaking english, informing us of places to visit (there is a saturday market a couple of minutes from the hotel), a map of Cannes, and a map of the bus lines with information on stops and bus numbers. The bus is a short 10 minute ride to Hôtel de Ville where many bus lines meet as well as a short walk to a beach. The bathroom is what caused the most problems since the standing shower has a curtain not a door -- the water gets all over the bathroom if you're not careful. What the room lacked, the front desk made up in helpfulness along with the location and price of the hotel. All in all it was an ok stay. If I had another hotel option I probably would've wanted to stay there instead.

Dear client,
We would like to thank you for the time you have taken to share your experience on Trip Advisor.
Our goal is to make the stay of our clients as pleasant as possible and your comments are very important to us.
We are sorry to hear you didn't fully enjoy your stay.
In regards to the daily cleaning of the room, it depends on the formula you actually booked.
We propose 2 formulas : one with residential service : including sheet and bathroom linen, beds made upon arrival, and end of stay cleaning (the one you obviously reserved, meaning that we do not enter in your room during your stay) and another formula with hotel service (with extra charge), including the daily cleaning and change of bath linen.
We hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again on one of our Residhotel properties.
Yours Sincerely,
Karine V

We booked a quadruple room for 2 nights. We loved the location as it was somewhat near the center of Cannes (a 10 minute bus ride). The concierge was of great help! He gave us a lot of
information on the city and
activities. The quadruple room meant 1 double bed and 1 bunk bed, the bunk bed was placed in what looked like a small closet. The bathroom is what caused most problems during
our stay. The shower flooded to the middle part of the room which we cleaned with the towels the provided in the room. Otherwise, the room was functional with the kitchenette and balcony. We had a good stay for the most part.

Very clean reception area and apartment in general. The apartment amenities were apt for a weeks stay. But we arrived to find doors to balcony didn't lock, one had fallen off runner. Son was frightened we would be burgled. Women on reception didn't speak English very well at all, even though website said English was spoken. Man on desk on certain days spoke great English and was very helpful and understanding. Hotel offered to send us to another hotel in Cannes for one night but we had to pay to get there and back - we declined due to picking this hotel to be close to supermarket and beach, it would mean not being able to settle by taking time out off the holiday time and it was 21 Euros taxi each way and also because they said they would fix it on Monday we stayed put - it was fixed on Wednesday. On Monday we moved to another room but could feel every bedspring and the bathroom was like an oven due to extractor fan not working and fridge made terrible racket that kept kids awake all night - so we moved back to first room. Also encountered a broken chair, clothes rack and frying pan; the saucepans were grotty and there was a tissue in bathroom with blood on even though the place was supposed to have been cleaned.
Bus is 1.50 a trip but you can get a 10 ticket card for 10 Euros which we did several times during our week stay. Also great is that you can get on one bus and travel into Cannes and then hop on a different number bus within an hour for free.
WiFi in the hotel is free for 4 hours per email address then you pay. If you don't like smoke from smokers don't stay here as the smell/smoke drifts into your room from adjacent balconies, double glazing no good. Electric fuse tripped several times so had to cook on one hob...took 2 hours to do fried chicken and rice! Extractor fans didn't work in bathroom or cooking area. Although hotel has a policy for residents to be quiet after certain times they don't seem to enforce it - most nights had only 5 hours sleep, max. I had a breakdown after 3 nights due to door problem, electric problem and lack of sleep.
TIP - if you are arriving after 'office hours' send them an email for key pick up instructions.
If you like partying, staying out and the noise and smoke is not a problem then you will have a great time - if you like peace and quiet - find a gites - don't stay here.

Stayed for a few days during the Film Festival. Simple hotel, basic fixtures and fittings but clean and comfortable enough. Had a room at the rear of the hotel so was quite quiet, my colleague had a room at the front and he said it was pretty noisy in the mornings from the traffic. But €1 on the bus from virtually outside the hotel to town centre. Take bus nos 1,2 or 20. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes really. Nice Boulangerie up the road, really nice fruit and veg Market on Friday and Saturday and also a mini supermarket directly opposite the hotel open till 2am. Would go back next year.

Room Tip: Floor 6 had a balcony. Floor 4 did not.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2011

I stayed during the MIPCOM TV Festival and found the place a refreshing change from the usual cash grasping attitude of a lot of the rest of the town.

When my colleagues were paying £400 a night to stay in town in 3 star hotels without wifi, it was exceptional value, and in all my dealings with the staff, I found them open, friendly and helpful. Official check out is 10 a.m., but the great lady on reception didn't hesitate to organise the cleaning rota so that I could stay in the room into the afternoon to do some work.

The room was fine, everything worked. It isn't a palace, but it doesn't claim to be. Reading some of the former reviews, I approached it with some heaviness of heart, but it was clean and adequately put together. Whilst relatively noisy, La Bocca is an interesting area to stay in - market over the road, and a good bar The African Queen on the corner, beach 3 mins away. The bus into town takes approx 10 - 15 mins, costs a Euro, and after a while I worked out the night bus schedule as well. When I had to walk it it was approx 45 mins.

Room Tip: Front is noisy, but no big deal - I bring earplugs as a matter of course
