“Trés Bon Hôtel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

I was very impressed with the hotel club maintenon hotel. On arrival a member of staff ensured we were assisted with our luggage from entrance gates. The foyer area is really inviting, bright spacious, charming and modern at the same time. I understand the rooms are enormous by côte d'azure standards, and they were very spacious. The hotel is in a very busy area with a lot of traffic, but pedestrians are so well catered for. It is easy to cross the roads and intersections safely as there are many designated pedestrian crossings. The hotel is located near the main train station and bus stop from the airport. I was upgraded to a lovely suite as the hotel wasn't at full occupancy . Very charming views from terrrace and the sea in the distance. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are traditional and very well maintained. The restaurant and outside seating area has great views of the city, and the hills of Cannes. There are lovely plants and shrubs everywhere. The foyer had a great flower display of real Orchids! Cannes is a very busy place with lots of cars and traffic, however the staff in all the stores and restaurants took time to talk to us and were so polite and respectful, even in the the very well know designer stores. The custom of greeting everyone with a bonjour and au revoir, madame or monsieur really enhances your visit . The displays in some of the stores was really a work of art. Great value in eating out in Cannes, there are lots of bistros everywhere, also the bistros by the train station after a long day sightseeing were such good value, 8euros for an omelette with fresh salad and gourmet chips enough for two people. Many other choices in bistros and restaurants available. As always there are great transport links all over france and the riviera from cannes. The fact that the local people acknowledge tourists so well, is really refreshing. There are so many great places to visit on a day trip from Cannes, e.g Beaulieu sur mere, Menton ,Saint Tropéz via San Raphael, that you will feel that you are only settling in after 5 days. The weather was good and very sunny the day we were leaving. Hotel Maintenon is an excellent choice for Cannes and good value.

We hosted our annual business luncheon at Hotel Club Maintenon yesterday on the terrace and were once again extremely happy with the event. All staff are very friendly, food delicious and excellent service provided by all. Our event was so successful that all beer was drank within an hour and a half, so the hotel staff managed to buy in some more from a local shop to keep our guests happy. Thank you all, and we'll be back again next year.

CLUB MAINTENON it's a great accomodation, I suggest it to anyone who's going to stay in Cannes:
The Club is at a stone's throw both from the centre of Cannes and the well known Palais des Festivals.
Nice, clean palce, the staff is polite and kind, magic location, easy to reach, safe (police staion at two minutes walking).
I'll choose Club Maintenon ince again next year for Mapic. And for any other occasions.

There are a lot of good things about Hotel Club Maintenon in Cannes.
The location is good, in an elevated position far enough away from the main road behind the town centre to be quiet.
The underground car park is an essential, heaven knows where you would park in Cannes.
The rooms are big, clean, and have a very nice balcony. Ours (Room 304) was to the side by the garden.
The reception, bar and dining room staff are helpful, courteous and pleasant.
So what are the short-comings?
Well, there is no tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, and the bar is closed all day, not opening until 6.00pm.
As the dining room closes after breakfast at 10.00am, there is no chance of a drink or refreshment all day.
This is ridiculous, as the terrace is a lovely spot where you can sit and enjoy the views across the city.
Being British, we would expect to find some UK TV channels on the TV, especially as we were there for five nights.
All that was available was Euronews, an English speaking world news channel that was on a 30 minute loop of repeat information all day.
Even just the BBC or a film channel would have been acceptable.
The dining room is very modern and with great views.
Breakfast was good, although the only hot items were sausage and scrambled egg each day.
We went out for meals, there are so many restaurants in Cannes, but I am sure to eat in the hotel would be fine.
If the management could make the above changes needed, the hotel would be worthy of the four star rating it advertises.

The hotel was a bit dated but definitely worth the price. It's within a 5-10 minute walk from the public beach but I will advise that there wasn't much of a choice for nearby restaurants. Tried the rooftop for dinner one night which was terrible and overpriced, but the breakfast is worth it.

Room Tip: Get one facing the water and as high up as possible. I was on the 3rd floor toward the middle of the...

Great terrace with mountain views. Big room with fridge and safe. The dog liked the view too. Only issue was no tea/coffee facilities in the room so bring your own. Didn't use the restaurant as there so many nearby. Some areas need tidying up but it's in a perfect spot away from all the hustle and bustle and the underground parking at 9€ a day is great value.

So the travelling from the airport is long, 1 euro bus.. very jammed packed and can take up 2 hours... Very cheap of course and convenient if your on a tight budget by all means but then arrived where there was no one on the front desk for at least 15 minutes! Ringing a bell that no one answered for this time whilst your tired.. wasn't the best. Then our room faced a very high rised building onto the main street- no privacy at all! So changed rooms at an extra charge of course to garden view, thankfully there was one available, but room walls are very thin, can practically hear everything from your neighbour! The rooms are very spacious, however no cutlery, glasses, plates? Have to ring room service if you need any of these which was rather annoying! And the beds, no doubles and did also become annoying! Bathroom is big and has a hair dryer- not very powerful so if your a girl with long hair like mine, I suggest taking your own! Safe was handy- imac laptop fitted nicely.
Location is good, just a 5 min walk and your right in the heart of restaurants another 5 min walk and you find some nice bars.. Not quite the night life I expected.. very low key. Not for clubbers. Police station at the bottom of the hill, so makes you feel safe walking back late.
Staff are very helpful (when they are at the desk) and willing to help arrange trips and help you get about, so don't be shy to ask them anything. We looked up a lot on the internet and managed to go to a few things that happened on the beach and in other surrounding towns, Le plage electroniques was a fab night!
Disapointed: this hotel has no pool and lacks facilities overall!

Room Tip: Stay in front, up high
