I have frequently traveled to Cannes in the spring to attend an international convention. During the years, when attendance was very strong (before the economic crisis), it was never easy to get a room in Cannes; many participants had to stay in surrounding towns and villages. By default, the first year I attended, I was placed at the Victoria by the event organizer. Frankly, I was so happy with the accommodations, that I requested the hotel many times in the following years. Frankly, the rates charged for any accommodation during this event jump to the realm of ridiculous pricing. It is, what it is, and I'm sure it's the same for all of the major events held in this beautiful seaside town. Even with the pricing during my event, I found the Victoria to be a charming, small hotel. Most importantly, the staff is fantastic. They truly make guests feel welcome. The location, while not view-oriented, is ideal and an easy walk to just about everything. One year, due to circumstances I did not control, I ended up extending my stay. The hotel price dropped immediately, by a substantial amount--to their standard rate, when it is not event time in Cannes. I loved my cozy little room, so requested it each year I stayed at the Victoria--something about that made the hotel feel even more like home.
If you're not concerned about luxury, but a nice little hotel with very comfortable accommodations and a wonderful staff, I'd recommend you check out the charming, little Victoria, Cannes.
