“Worth it for the vegetables”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

This is a small resturant run by a young couple and we have visited it on previous holidays. There is a frinedly ambieince and our meal was enjoyable. One of the things that suprises us about France is that, despite the profusion of wonderful vegetables in the markets, so little seems to end up on the plate in their restaurants. Poivre et Sel is an exception and the main courses are always accompanied by a selection of vegetables - cooked to perfection.

“Fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Have now been of a few occasions, this year and last. The host remembered us from last year and was very attentive and welcoming. The food is also very good and well priced. Will go back again. Minor quibble is the tightly packed chairs but most places in the Suquet have that problem.

“Superb atmosphere and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

We came across this place while walking up the hill in old Cannes. There is a good selection of food for everyone. We had the 28 Euro set meal and the kids had the 24 Euro meal and a pasta dish. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to guide us through the menu in English. The smoked salmon starter was excellent as was the onion soup. We were sat outside and there was a constant stream of people coming and going to the restaurant including lots of French people which is always a good sign. For main courses we had fillet of beef with a lovely selection of vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes. Our daughter had pasta with a tomato sauce which she said was lovely. Puddings were good and the wine was excellent local Provence wine. Bill came to 150 Euros which compared to some meals in the area is relatively cheap for 4 people with plenty of wine. I would strongly recommend this restaurant and would definitely return again.

“Becareful, don't complain about the food bcoz the chef might come out and throw the overlooked steak in your face”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

We went for dinner, all the old town was completely full and this restaurant was the only one with empty tables. We expected the food to be less than okay but we settled. I ordered my steak medium. It came out medium well, closer to well done. I told the waiter that it was overlooked. He gave me attitude and went bak to the chef who got it back to me burnt. After he got it, I told him that i dont want it anymore. So the chef came out with his burnt steak screaming at me at the top of his lungs with absolutely no respect for anyone. He said that he's been cooking for 25 years. It's wierd when someone cooks for 25 years and gives u a soggy and tasteless onion soup, and then an overbooked steak, and after all that, he comes out screaming with the plate in his hand. No wonder it was the only empty restaurant in the old town. Apparently the chef is also the owner. A simple comment of an overcooked steak ruined our entire evening. We all left the table, and he had the nerve to charge us for the full menu, which we did not even continue.

“Delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

We stumbled upon this place while walking through the narrow streets of Cannes. Alot of the other restaurants required reservations. The hostess gave us a free appertif when we sat, I was pregnant so wasn't drinking so the bartender made me a special 'mocktail' which was extremely nice of them. They were so caring and loved what they did. The food was delicious and the desserts were super scrumptious. Being pregnant I wasnt feeling the greatest so they packed up the rest of my dinner and dessert for take-away so that we could leave. Overall, a wonderful experience!
Seating is a little crammed, but take a look at any restaurant in Cote d'azur, they are all crammed!
