“Awesome Spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2009

Had a great stay at the Belle Plage. We booked a Quad Room with sea view. This hotel is in an awesome location. It is right across the street from the beach and there are both pay and public (free) beaches right across the street. There's a great little park also across the street with a small playground for kids. There are tons of restaurants nearby and also little grocery, souvenir and beach stores as well as cafes and bakeries. We couldn't have been happier with the location. And it's right around the corner from the main quai and Blvd. Croisette, just a 5 minute walk. The rooms were average and could use updating and modernizing but were absolutely comfortable and clean. The rooftop pool was also a big draw. It is quite small but served our purposes and offers a fabulous view of the Mediterranean and the rooftops of Cannes. Staff was friendly, helpful and spoke English.

This hotel is rated as a 4* but is definitely no higher than a 3*. The quad room is not suitable for four adults as there is no way near enough storage and is very small with a tiny balcony. The nasty stale smell of cigarette smoke hit you every time you entered the room combined with another odour which we could not put our finger on but was extremely unpleasent. Very well positioned for Cannes and excellent bar/restaurant across the road on the corner opposite the beach, which by the way may be called the same name as the hotel but has nothing to do with it so get ready to have to pay for a sunbed and boy do they know how to charge!!!!

  • Liked — clean sheets every day believe it or not
  • Disliked — size, rundown decor and stale smell in room

Ideal location in Cannes. Situated in the old town and very quiet. 10-15 min pleasant walk to centre passing restaurant lined street.Close to beach only a couple of minutes walk. Sea View (a must) wonderful with balcony overlooking small park and great view of the Med.
Self service breakfast. Room very good and very clean. Bed very comfortable. Could not praise the staff enough. Very helpful -arranged several tours for us and also recommended some very good restaurants.
No PC available to allow internet access. Also no iron in room which i was depending on. I would have liked tea facility in the room also.
Really enjoyed our stay and would reccommend it without hesitating,

  • Liked — the view from balcony of the med
  • Disliked — no pc access to internet

This was a very nice hotel, close to the beach and restaurants, overlooking a pretty little park.

There was a swimming pool on the roof of the hotel overlooking the sea and the view was beautiful.

We booked a room with a sea view which was beautiful and very clean.

The staff at this hotel were extremely polite.

The only thing I can say which could be improved is the air conditioning in the foyer.

  • Liked — very close to the sea, shops and restaurants
  • Disliked — air conditioning in the foyer could be improved

This hotel is a great place. Staff is great. Very friendly. Morning breakfast is excellent. The rooms are great but a bit pricey. If you are traveling with three or four, enquire about the apartments in back. They are decent, nothing special, but their kitchen with refrigerator and stove can really help stretch the american dollar on the French Riveira on an extended trip. The price of the apartment is great when compared to three rooms.

  • Liked — Location and staff
  • Disliked — Certain maintenance issues take a while to address- tub no shower

Booked on the strength of previous reviews and had a very pleasant stay at the Belle Plage. It was worth the battle through the Cannes traffic that we had to find it (even the sat nav got confused) and the 15 euros a day we paid to park underneath. There was only one space left, so it would be worth booking in advance, rather than having the trial of looking elsewhere. If you have a room at the front of the hotel the views from the balconies are spectacular, especially from the higher floors. We also liked the rooftop pool area, where you can take up drinks from the bar and sunbathe on the loungers. The little park between the hotel and the beach absorbs some of the noise and is a welcome oasis from the relentless traffic. The beaches are opposite the hotel, including a free one and the walk to main part of Cannes took us about 10 minutes,

Rooms are very clean and the tasteful decor reflects the cinema theme that is evident throughout the hotel: our room had posters from the 1946 film festival. One complaint was that the hairdryer appeared to be from 1946 as well, heavy wall mounted thing of the type that used to be found in swimming baths. Another small gripe was the hand held shower, but overall the bathroom was clean and modern.

Breakfast is served until 10.30 on the pleasant mezzanine level. It’s of limited choice, but there’s plenty of it and the opportunity to order cooked food if you wish. Staff are very friendly and helpful and queries are dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Would recommend the hotel and feel that the price charged offers very good value for Cannes. Favourite places to eat included La Frégate and La Plage (round the corner) and the more up market Au Poisson Grillé (great set price menu for 28 euros), which is on the harbour.

  • Liked — Sea view; cleanliness
  • Disliked — That heavy old hair dryer!

Stayed here one night for a business meeting. Usually, I never talk to the staff, but somehow I ended up having a long chat with the receptionist and one of his friends. This turned out be a nice and interesting discussion around the future development of the western societies, and this will probably stay in my memory for a long time.

The room was very standard. Bath and toilet was separated. For some strange reason, the pillows were hidden in a closet and it took me a moment to locate them. A small balcony with a narrow view of the beach and ocean. No internet available, which is unacceptable for me as a business traveller.

Location is away from the hottest action in Cannes, yet still within walking distance from everything. Perfect for my preference. I paid 119Euro/night without breakfast.
