“Small Historic city, worth a detour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Like many medieval cities in the region Haut de Cagnes ( the old city of Cagnes sur Mer) is a charming old town with narrow streets (do no try to drive trough them, park outside) and a great view of the Mediterranean sea. It has an old chateau which today belongs to the Grimaldi's family of Monte Carlo where art exhibitions are held.
Stroll through and if you are lucky you stumble upon one of the festivals they celebrate here , a flower festival or a comic Bulle Carre (the Petangue gamehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%A9tanque played with cubic wooden "balls").

“Picturesque and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

There is not an alley, road or building that is not picture perfect. Everywhere you look you see postcard beautiful buildings, flowers and vines. It is just so lovely and quaint and visually perfect. It felt peaceful and a step back in time. Took over 100 photos. It was one of the European highlights for me. Far, far better than commercial Eze ! you must go see it!

“Another quintessential French experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Like Hyeres, another beautiful French old town built on a steep hill. Except this one is much closer to an international airport (Nice). Great walk up the hill,
Most restaurants at the top closed on Sundays. Just wander around and enjoy.
