The two of us spent a lovely evening in the tastefully decorated hotel. Our suite was sumptuous, and the evening meal and wine delicious with amazing sunset views. Friendly and helpful staff made the stay. We'd thoroughly recommend it.

We booked this hotel based on TA reviews. On the plus side is the location and the staff who were very helpful. But the property is a bit tired and the quality isn't what is should or could be - breakfast for example is basic and even the juice is not fresh.
Ok but not value for money

Dear Francober,
You have booked our property based on reviews on TripAvisor and you have done well, we mostly receive very positive feedback. In addition we have also won TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence 2014. We regret that your stay was a disapointment. The building dates back to 13th century and is part of the heritage of Cagnes-sur-Mer and the Grimaldi Family, Royal Family of Monaco. The walls are very old but it is the charm of this unique place full of history and authenticity, the rooms have been completely renovated in 2011 and 2012 combining modern comfort with hand painted artwork on the walls and antique furniture in each room. We regret that the breakfast was not to your liking. We do also provide an additional a la carte menu with a wide choice of cooked dishes. Thank you for taking the time to give us your comments. This gives us an opportunity to do even better. Despite your disappointment we would love to see you at Château Le Cagnard again with a different view hopefully. Kind regards Frida Ivarsson and the team at Château Le Cagnard.

We stayed 2 nights in a sea view room with a terrace. The quality of the rooms and accessories (towels, bed linen etc) was all really high. Our room was really pretty.
The service was excellent and really friendly
We parked in Cagnes sur Mer and were picked up and taken to our car by the hotel as we needed to which is great.
Haut de Cagnes is a tiny but very pretty hilltop town. Not a lot to do but admire the beauty of it, but it is gorgeous and definately worth a visit.

Room Tip: worth having a terrace to relax on as there's not a whole lot to do in the town.

Dear Scoorie,
We would like to thank you for the great comment you left following your stay at our property. Château Le Cagnard has been completely renovated with great care, so our desire is to offer the best services and comfort including excellent bedding, towels and accessories of high quality mixing the antiques with the modern comfort in the rooms. Thank you also for leaving a room tip. Haut-de-Cagnes is a Medieval village with a square, lots of different restaurant to explore as well as the Museum Grimaldi and the contemporary Jewelry Gallery. There is the Renoir Museum only 5 minutes away and so is the beach. Furthermore the town is very well connected to Nice, Cannes, Grasse, Monaco and other nice places to explore through public transport. We look forward to welcome you again very soon. Kind regards Frida Ivarsson and the team at Château Le Cagnard.

When we arrived at Chateau Le Cagnard we were delighted to see what a wonderfully sympathetic job had been made by the new owners when renovating this 13th century building.
Much care had been taken to keep the character and history but with amazing new twists. Our junior suite had a lounge, large bathroom and a bedroom which housed a very comfortable bed with top quality bed linen and towels. Views from the balcony fantastic. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff were smart and very helpful willing to drive us to the train station on our first excursion. The village is very interesting, roads very narrow (I certainly wouldn't drive).however a free and frequent bus service takes you to down town where trains and buses transport you around this wonderful part of the world. We loved our stay, thank you everyone

Le Cagnard lived up to its reputation. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Laura came to pick us up from the automatic parking le Planestel and take us by very narrow roads to the hotel. Do not try to do this yourself. It would have been better to leave the hire car in the car park Sainte Luce which is not too far away. Le Planestel cost us 19 euros to leave the car overnight compared with 6.60 euros in Sainte Luce.
Our room, Cossetini, was very comfortable. It had TV, safe, coffee machine, fridge and sundry nibbles. You can see it and the bathroom for yourself in the traveller's photos. The bedlinen was clean and crisp, the towels thick and fluffy.
We ate each of the two nights of our stay in the hotel restaurant, which was elegant. The food was first class. The breakfast was a veritable feast.
The village needs to be explored on foot. There is lots to see and to enjoy. We especially liked sitting in the sun at one of several cafes on the Place Grimaldi and enjoying a drink, whilst we people watched.
At the end of our stay, Gregory took us down to the car park to collect the car and then led us through the town to the start of the motorway, for which we were extremely grateful. We had the impression that nothing was too much trouble or us as guests.
I should love to go back again and can thoroughly recommend it.

We arrived at the Hotel at 10 pm from Nice Airport and as other reviews noted the streets to the Castle are narrow. We were greeted by Gregory and he showed us to our upgraded suite - Chapel Klien, which had its own private access and a gorgeous balcony and view of the riveria (which we were to find out in the morning).

We ate in the square in La Village, the owner asked were we the guests that were delayed and even though they were finished serving food she put together a delicious chautucerie board for us.

The service, room, views and surrounds of the hotel were all amazing and we would certainly return here.

Tips - do not take a taxi from Nice airport to the hotel as we were charged €50 and thought it was a scam but when we rang the hotel they said that was a normal price. I would recommend that the hotel notes this and recommends that people take the bus from Nice airport to St Augustin station and get off at Cagnes Sur Mer station where they can then avail of the 44 bus which brings you right up to the hotel.

Also, as the hotel is up a steep hill, but well worth it for the views, I would recommend that the hotel considers arranging its own transfer for guests in the morning (hourly from 9-11) and in the evening (hourly from 5-8).

The receptionist kindly took us to the train station when we checked out and I think they do this frequently.

All in all we had a wonderful stay in this magical hotel!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Klien Room which had a beautiful balcony and its own private access, it was very sp...
