Our worst dining experience in years. First they brought us a bottle of wine that had already been opened, and likely refilled with the cheap house wine, for a little game of "cheat the tourist." I should have walked out right there, but I was too stunned at the audacity of this culinary crime.
But then there is the food, which my wife aptly described as, "Barely edible." My fish soup appetizer was the soup base for the bouillabaisse, which, by the way, was the worst bouillabaisse I have ever had. The server neglected to ask me for a choice between a baked potato or risotto, so I received the default, boring potato to go along with my main course. The desserts were popular with my daughter, but she'll eat anything with sugar. I would describe them as not worth the calories, especially after every single dessert I sampled in Paris.
How, in Antibes, with some of the best ingredients around, can a chef produce such amazingly mediocre food. The breakfasts and lunches that we have been preparing ourselves with ingredients from the Provencal Market have been mind blowingly good. The chef at Auberine, in my opinion, has neither the talent nor the creativity to make food worth paying for. Please let this restaurant go out of business quickly.
