“Now has elevator”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

I agree with many other guests who indicate this is a lovely, unpresumptuous little place in a perfect location. How wonderful to be able to walk with luggage easily from train to hotel. And what's more -- there is an elevator. We stayed on the fourth floor and were directed straightaway to the nice new elevator. Breakfast seemed overpriced, so we skipped that option in favor of gettting fabulous pastries from nearby shops.

The hotel is literally down the road from everything in Avignon and does it name "Central" complete justice. They are busy renovating the outside but the interior is beautiful. You immediately get the Provençal vibe!!

The staff is fluent in both English and French and they are very helpful.

Heads up - There is no elevator so pack light or do weights!

Hotel Central is a five minute walk to Avignon Central station, ten minutes to the Palais des Papes, with lots of cafes, restaurants and shops nearby.
The staff is friendly and helpful. We were looking for a restaurant on a Monday night and the gentleman on reception checked online and made some calls for us. (He also made some great recommendations, we ate at a restaurant he'd recommended the following evening.)
The rooms we had were small but decorated beautifully and immaculately clean.
Breakfast comprised baguettes, pastries, cold-cuts, fruit, yoghurts, juices, fresh tea or coffee and the offer of espressos, cappuccinos, etc.
This is a faultless little budget place. We would definitely stay again.

Simple but cozy room with a view onto the charming little courtyard. Absolutely ideally situated while still being peaceful and calm. Nice to have the possibility of making tea in the room. The staff are smiley and helpful. The breakfast is not worth the price: Cheap cheese and bad coffee. The the rest was lovely.

Room Tip: The rooms that can be accessed by lift are best

Upon checking in I was greeted by a very friendly staff member (can't remember his name). The hotel itself is beautiful with a great outside courtyard you pass on your way to the reception. I only wish it was warmer so I could have enjoyed sitting out there and eating breakfast. The room itself was very modern and quiet. Keep in mind most hotels in France don't have a key card system where you hold your room key to the door and it opens. However, this hotel did and it was much more convenient than fiddling around with an ancient key trying to open the door.

Also a great location. About a 10 minute walk straight from the train station so no taxi is required. What I also liked is it's kind of hidden. It is nestled between two businesses so you have to keep an eye out so you don't walk by.

Great stay in a great location and city. Would definitely stay again!
