Very nice place. Doesn't have an elevator, but they help you up with the luggage, you won't even have to ask. Breakfast is served in a very nice room with fresh fruit and pastries, yoghurt, juice, hot drinks. Underground parking is nearby, but you can drive into the street where the house is located to unload the luggage.

Room Tip: All rooms are individual, you can ask host to tell you more of the available rooms and book the one...

Las Banasterie is well positioned behind the Palace of the Popes. Difficult to find as there is no sign out in front, but once inside it was delightful. The hotel and our room are decorated with style and imagination. Jean Michel was the most helpful host we met in two weeks. He even came to where we had parked several blocks away and navigated us to his hotel. He made us dinner reservations at a gourmet restaurant, gave us a helpful map, carried our luggage and served us breakfast with fresh sqweezed orange juice. We wish we could have stayed more nights at his delightful hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was on the street, but we heard no noise. Check with him on parking sites before arriving.

Nice bed and breakfast located right in the city center.
We enjoyed our stay, even if the room was not super quiet (we could hear what was happening in the next door bathroom), as everything else was perfect: breakfast, hospitality, cleanliness and of course location.

A wonderful place to be based for a couple of days in Avignon, Jean Michel was a perfect host. Great breakfast and the chilled bottle of rosé on arrival was just what we needed. Jean Michel also handed us a map with the good restaurants marked

Fantastic. Look no further. The owners have found a second calling: intelligent, sassy and charming. They could run classes to the bigger, far more expensive, hotels in town. We stayed in the room Guanaja for three nights....proper double bed with firm mattress and quality cotton linen sheets ( 5 * hotels make note please) made for a blissful nights sleep ( we live in central London ). Bathroom excellent. Separate w/c....sparing me embarrassment with Mrs Fawlty. They should charge much more for this, because they merit it. It's THE place to stay in Avignon. We loved it.

Having never been to Provence, we were lucky to stay with Jean Michel and Francoise at La Banasterie. Their local knowledge and ability to get dinner reservations was much appreciated. Our room was charming, a great mix of old charm and modern conveniences. The location was perfect, steps away from great restaurants, the heart of the city, markets and around the corner from the Pope's Palace. It could not have been more convenient. We will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Quetzalcoatl room.......We loved the private patio, a lovely place for an afternoon gla...

Really enjoyed our stay in this Avignon B&B. The hosts were very gracious, and were able to both recommend restaurants and make phone reservations for us (turns out you need them on a busy weekend night with tourists pounding the streets looking for dinner!) Our room was beautifully furnished, both with nice decorations and with painted designs that were hundreds of years old. The establishment's dedication to chocolate was a nice touch, with a little bowl of chocolates for a welcoming gift and lovely, thick hot chocolate for breakfast (which otherwise consisted of cut fruit, yogurt, packaged cheese, and an assortment of breads).

Travelers considering this location might want to know:
1) There's not a prominent street sign for the B&B, because of historical zoning, so you really need to find the address and follow directions to get there. We walked up and down the right street several times before we thought to look up the house number, after which we found it easily.
2) Our room was furnished with a bathtub and shower attachment, but not a standing shower. Some travelers might want one.
3) Our room was rather dimly lit at night, which made it slightly difficult to read guidebooks. However, there are lovely well-lit sitting rooms which make up for it.
4) This is a historical building, in a historical neighborhood. The building has no elevator (which I loved, because it was more authentically historic), and the streets would be very difficult to drive through if you're searching for this location in a car. But it was quite close to the Palais de Papes, with its large adjacent parking lot, which we found very convenient for parking our rental car overnight and enjoying day trips.
