“Charming accommodations, gracious hosts, great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 via mobile

We've usually preferred small hotels to B&Bs, so we were eager to try something new. We stayed in the Saõ Tome suite, which was quite spacious for three adults. A generous breakfast (included) was served in the room. The property is located on a quiet street very close to the Palace of the Popes and many excellent dining options. Parking in Avignon is a challenge, but the underground pay lot at the palace was most convenient. Owner Jean-Michel's warm hospitality made our three days at La Banasterie a very pleasant experience, and we recommend it without hesitation.

Wonderful stay at la banasterie . Jean Michel was very helpful booking tours at the last minute. Perfect location and charming accommodations. Nice breakfast, chocolates, and lavender sachet at night. Would definitely stay again,.

I stayed at La Banasterie for 6 nights in September 2012, 4 nights by myself and 2 additional nights when my daughter joined me. The area where the B&B is located is old, charming, and close to the Pope's Palace. Jean Michel was extremely with local recommendations, and we were able to take a small 8 person tour to surrounding villages. Highly recommend this B&B.

La Banasterie is a charming B&B well located for access to the sights and restaurants of Avignon. The two rooms we stayed in we're comfortable, well appointed and distinctly different. The proprietor, Jean Michel, offered a friendly welcome and helpful support in pinning down evening reservations. One, however, must be careful not to over indulge in the delicious chocolates which are available for the taking throughout the establishment. We would definitely return.

We used Avignon for our home base while in Provence and stayed at La Banasterie, I'd recommend you do the same. First off, within Avignon the location is great. 3 min. walk to Pope's Palace and Place L'Horoge. 10 min. from Pont St. Benezet. Not far from any restauraunt.

Jean Michel was also a great host. It was our honeymoon and of all the places we stayed on our trip he was the only one that honored the occasion with a complimentary bottle of Rose. He sat us down to go over the city map and on our last day we had to get out prior to breakfast hours but he packed us a bag of pastries for our trip and brewed some Espresso.

We had the Gajara (spelling?) room and it was nice. Very big by European standards. It also had a little balcony area that was very nice.

I definitely recommend this place but I do warn you that we never would have found it on our own, I'd recommend getting a ride. Jean Michel actually hooked us up with a woman named Michelle, she got us right there. The one other thing that some people may not like is that you leave your room key there when you leave, I doubt any Americans would be used to that and maybe it will freak you out..... but if not, stay here.

La Banasterie is a quaint, charming bed and breakfast. Jean Michel is a welcoming host, and he suggested things to do in the area, as well as a fantastic local restaurant. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I just returned from a three-night stay at La Banasterie in Avignon, and we could not have been more pleased with the experience. We used Avignon as a home base to explore Provence. With the train station just a 10-minute walk from La Banasterie, it was very easy for us to take day trips to Arles and Nimes (we prefer train travel to car rentals). We stayed in the "Guanaja" room at the B&B, and were charmed by the wonderful decor. Every touch was so thoughtful and quirky, and was a nice break from the overwhelming cuteness of many Provence hotels. From the reservation process to the welcome at the B&B to the breakfast in the morning, our hosts were gracious and helpful, never overbearing. I would recommend La Banasterie to anyone visiting Avignon, as well as Avignon itself as an excellent home base. I hope to return soon!

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong here, but I can confirm that the Guanaja room offers a comfortabl...
