“Jayne”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We had 3 nights in Avignon and ate here the first and last night as it suited us so well. Lovely small cosy restaurant if you like wooden tables and no table clothes. The food on both occasions was excellent. Plenty of choice between fish and meat. Deserts where also excellent and staff happy for us to share. First evening we had a bottle of red second visit caraf both were very good. We had complimentary coffee on our 2nd visit.

“One of the food highlights of our trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Food is always tricky for us when travelling because my husband is very adventurous and I am definitely not, so to find a place that had great food typical of the region with food more familiar to North America (although with a French twist) was excellent. We wandered by this restaurant several times and noticed it was always full. We decided to try it and happened to be the first in on this night but it quickly filled by 7:30.
My husband ordered a starter with a puff pastry base, caramelized onions and stacked with mushrooms and a small salad. He then ordered the duck breast and polenta which he said was cooked perfectly. I had beef tenderloin, apologized and asked for it to be cooked well-done. The meal was beautifully presented and mouth watering. The service was good and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This could have been so much better! The ambiance was not helped by our being the only people in the restaurant. The seeting itself is fine with lovely rustic tables. However...the menu is rather unimaginative. Chosing a burger was probably unimaginative too but the local offerings failed to inspire . The burger was made of excellent beef but arrived steeped in pink mayonnaise with bland ham and slabs of cheese. House wine was only average and our waiter managed to forget to bring our mineral water until reminded - must have been a bit busy. Good chips though.

“Great food & right around the corner from my B&B”

While in Avignon, I had a chance to try out a number of restaurants. Chez Lulu was among the best for casual outdoor dining and delicious food.
