“Excellent base of operations in Avignon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

We stayed here for three nights following the end of our river cruise in Avignon in April of 2014.. We wanted a place within the walls of the City to do some exploring on our own. We were pleased with our choice of Cote Square B&B. Our hosts, Veronique and Frederic, were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast they prepare is an excellent and tasty start to the day.
The house containing the rooms is well off the beaten path and very quiet at night, I don't think we every traveled back and forth from it the same way twice while visiting Avignon. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Pope's Palace and the touristy areas. It is close to the market and we shopped there one day for our lunch items and ate them in the kitchen. Our rudimentary French served us reasonably well and we pretty much purchased what we thought we did. Our hosts speak very good English and they are very helpful giving advice and making restaurant reservations at some of the excellent restaurants in Avignon.
I want to clarify that the rooms are on the first floor of the house and not the ground floor as I had thought they were. There is a flight of some 20 steps up to the first floor from the entrance and no elevator or bellmen so you have to bring your luggage up and down. We were at the end of a two week trip with wine and other goodies in our bags and it took some effort to bring them up and down the stairs. It is not a big deal, but keep that in mind if you have mobility issues.
We paid 130 Euros per night for our stay and enjoyed being there, Our room was clean, with a large shower with good hot water and water pressure. There is no food service other than breakfast so if you want water and snacks, you have to purchase them from the surrounding little shops which were not open late.
We were happy with our choice of Cote Square and think that you will be as well.

Room Tip: There are only three rooms and we only saw the Alzado room where we stayed.

I like the typical French breakfast. This is coffee , croissant, fresh strawberries which are in season at the present time, bananas and I believe it was home made yogurt. We mixed the yogurt with the fruit and it was delicious. Following this we had the coffee and croissant.

I liked that the room we had had clean sheets. It was easy to see this because they are white. Nothing to hide. The Turquin room is small but the access to the terrace helps make the space feel more open. Besides we were out all day but when we came back for an afternoon rest we went onto the terrace which was quiet. It's a very basic room which I settled upon after the other rooms were taken.

The owners are very pleasant.

The other adult guests at the property were very polite and courteous and quiet.

The property is a few streets off the main area so it was very quiet to sleep. I really enjoyed the comfort of the bed mattress and the two pillows.

We stayed for three nights. It was about 130E. Based on my experience I would return again.

Room Tip: The Turquin is the smallest room I believe.

If you want a base from which you can explore Avignon, then you will do no better than to stay at Veronique's 'Cote Square'. Remember this is a... Bed and Breakfast...with secure car parking, within the old town. Veronique is a charming host with a comprehensive reserve of information on where to eat, and what to see, and personally runs a B & B of the highest order.

We enjoyed our stay here. We slept well. We were given lots of information to help us to decide what to do. We visited the new modern art exhibition in the old prison. Very interesting and good value. Great breakfast and hospitality.

The warm welcome by the hosts, good sense of style, lovely location - we'd definately recommend to stay there when one prefers more intimate accommodations.
We loved the balcony breakfast, interior designs and the atmosphere. A really nice place to stay in Avignon!
PS a good extra, a garage space for the car in the middle of the old town!

I picked this B+B from Trip advisor comments and every word is true... as all the hotels were in the busy centre and this is away from the noise and we are so glad we did .Veronique is one of the nicest hosts you will find in France... big statement... but we stayed in many hotels and B+Bs and this is one place we loved ,the rooms are immaculate, the bed is so comfy, you can park your car in there garage, the kitchen is open all hours and well equipped.Veronique will head you in the right direction with restaurants (check out Ginette & Marcel) and once there you can easily walk to all the touristy parts of Avignon.
do visit the night show at the Palais Des Papes LES LUMINESSENCES... fantastic.you must stay here!!!

Room Tip: we drove in to Avignon and it is a bit tricky to find, use your GPS and make sure you have a smaller...

Two friends and I stayed in the Isatis room of this B&B in Avignon and loved every minute. Véronique and Frédéric are helpful but not overbearing and they make the best breakfast and offer plenty of suggestions of where to visit. The room was airy, super clean, and modern, and the shower was large and hot. Isatis has a queen sized bed and twin bed, which was great for three people (it's hard to find hotels that accomodate three in one room in Provence!). The location is about a 10 minute walk from the Pope's Palace, perfectly situated for discovering the city. Best of all, there is free parking, so if you're doing a Provence road trip (as my friends and I were), it makes a great place to stay for a few days. The only downside is that the parking garage on the first floor of their home is a tight squeeze to get into, but it's free parking, so don't complain! One note: Make sure to follow Veronique's directions, not the GPS... you have to enter at the St. Michel gates to the city and make a few tight turns to get there. You will not be disappointed!
