“Excellent food in a tourist zone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

After searching literally for an hour and a half for an open restaurant on this holiday weekend, we saw Le Criquet finally open its doors. We were one of the first couples inside, but the restaurant was full within 20 minutes. The food was the reason: fresh fare, seasoned perfectly with herbes de Provence, and a wide enough selection to suit just about anyone. I had the house-made fresh fish soup to start and followed with the rack of lamb. The main course came with deliciously seasoned vegetables and potatoes, and there was a wide selection of regional wines. The service was fast, probably because there were so many people waiting to be seated, and the prices reasonable for how much food you get. These were American-sized portions.

I recommend you make reservations. Many people had done so and were seated immediately. However, it's worth the wait.

“Perfect in every way!”

French bistro food prepared perfectly in a quaint, very friendly atmosphere. Le Criquet was a highlight of our 10 days in the South of France. Wonderful!!

“Great food & great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

We (3 people) came to this restaurant because of the rating on TA. We were lucky to arrive early (before 7pm) and got a table on the 2nd floor without reservation. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and gives you a homey feeling. I think it is a family-owned restaurant. We were greeted by friendly waitresses. I ordered 3-course dinner set: salmon carpaccio for entrée, fish for main course and apple crêpe for dessert. All dishes were delicious! They have the a la carte menu and dinner sets (2-course, 3-course and a local specialty course). When we left the restaurant, the restaurant was still full.

One thing to note, a lot of restaurants close early and usually close on Monday or Tuesday in Arles. Sp, better to check in advance to avoid disappointment. :)

Cost: for dinner sets, around E25-50.

“Cosy and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

We chose this restaurant because it was steps from our hotel and there was a mistral so it was very cool out. It was a great choice! The restaurant was warm physically and socially. The food was superb. It was traditional cuisine but with a bit of a modern flair. Service was very good. The guests included locals as well as tourists.
