“Good value, but don't expect heaven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013 via mobile

The location is perfect for the price indeed, right at the heart of Arles, but it could have been better decorated. The furniture, which at first sight seemed ancient, I found to be a little old instead. I thought for the price payed to have a little more services, but I am otherwise very pleased with the stay. I reccommend you go in couples because the double rooms are the same fare as the simple.

We needed a family room (4 people) and after lots of 'we are full, sorry', the Forum came up trumps with spacious 4-person room for a good price including breakfast. Staff were v friendly, helping us with dinner reservations at a nice restaurant. The room was spacious and comfortable, if a little dated. The bathroom was also spacious but a bit worn.
Breakfast was reasonable, not amazing.
However, the central location is fantastic and the friendly welcome meant I would definitely return!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back, overlooking the pool. It was really quiet (no street noise) but very hot...

Loved the hotel which is at the heart of Arles, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the decoration is interesting and the swimming pool and back garden beautiful. However we were disappointed by the rooms, they were old and poorly decorated given the price we paid. The breakfast could have been better too. I would recommend this hotel despite the rooms but don't expect a four stars.

Hotel du Forum is a throwback to an earlier era. Run by a lovely family, it offers breakfast, drinks, and all-important (thought limited) parking on the frenetic Place de Forum. There is a pool in a small rear court. The front desk was very helpful. Everyone spoke English.

The charm ended at the door of the room, however. On the plus side, the A/C worked well and the bathroom was updated. The room was quiet as it faced away from the noisy square. On the minus side, the décor was awful: the room was furnished with Oxfam odds-and-ends, and garish curtains and bed cover. The uncomfortable low bed was made up with paper-thin linens and a blanket that had seen many guests. Pillows were long, narrow, lumpy cylinders that flattened to nothing. There were no pillow protectors. (When I asked Madame for extra pillows, there were none to be had so she kindly offered 2 from her own apartment. Unfortunately, they were without pillowcases and smelled strongly of her perfume.) The dingy towels were as threadbare as the sheets. The room was not very clean as we kept finding long black hairs on the floor and bed. Incidentally, we had asked for a room with a view of the town and ended up with a fig tree outside our window.

I cannot recommend Hotel du Forum and am surprised at its rating on TripAdvisor. There are better places to stay in Arles.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, do take advantage of the parking offered by the hotel as driving and parking...

We stayed here at the end of June. For once , we arrived without a car, travelling by train, from Marseille. The train station is an easy 15 mins. walk away.

This hotel is bang in the centre of the old town, very quirky in style. Beautiful swimming pool...very tiny, but secluded, clean, and with patio furniture provided.

Our bedroom was at the back of the hotel, overlooking the pool...to be recommended, as rooms overlooking the square are likely to be noisy during peak periods.
Furnishings are just adequate, bathroom was tired but acceptable..everything was clean!

There is no restaurant...although breakfast is available. Just outside the hotel, within 2 minutes, is a wide range of restaurants..some with live music, which adds to their charm.

The ice cream shop in the square has to be visited...try the rose petal, or the violet ice cream....fantastic!

The hotel staff were attentive and informative...I would recommend this to anyone who was not obsessed about bang up to date furnishings, but looking instead for a more traditional/ quirky experience.

Room Tip: Go for a room at the back of the hotel.

Stayed one night with family of two kids. Had a big famly room with a lot of space. Hotel is clean, nice, good atmosphere and a perfect location on the square. Front desk very friendly and nice. The small pool in the lovely courtyard was a small surprise, but perfect for a beer after a warm day in the city.

This is a fantastic hotel to stay for any length of time, with its lovely pool - and breakfast round the pool - and perfect staff organisation. The location could not be better; this is a family-run hotel with history, set in the old part of Arles and near all the best known sites. The Place du Forum in which it is located was always attractive and was painted by Van Gogh. We are 71 and 72 and loved the mixed age-groups and nationalities around the pool. If you have your own car contact M. and Mme at the hotel for advice - don't just turn up or you will despair of finding a place.

Room Tip: Avoid front of hotel if you don't want to hear and watch people eating at street tables. There...
