the couple who owns the small hotel greeted us when we arrived. they were so gracious and helpful and even helped us carry our luggages to the rooms (no elevator). perfect base to explore provence. with accessible parking. rooms are spacious. delicious breakfast. good value for money since it wasn't expensive at all.

I stayed in Arles for several nights exploring Provence.
It was a perfect choice I've done, and I was happy every single day I spent there.

One of the biggest pros is a free huge parking just round the corner, no need to search for the place as in the evening you can easily find the place there (it's usually half empty).
The hosts are GREAT: it's so nice & friendly couple, who are ready to help any time.
At the arrival you are met by Patrick, offering cold juice and sharing the necessary information about the city. They can also tell you about all the towns around, what to visit & when,
The room was on the 2nd floor (#6), and I liked everything inside. The only thing I can say is that the bed is pretty close to the door, you can hear everyone. But at the same time as the hotel is very small, it's not an issue at all.
The breakfast for 8 euro was very nice, and the price is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Only 12 rooms, so doesn't matter:)

We found Hotel Constantin on the internet, and weren't expecting much. What a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very cheerful and helpful young lady who made our check-in easy, in spite of the language barrier. The property is historic and beautiful, and conveniently located to all of Arles. Our family had two rooms and they were both nice. The air conditioning worked, the bathrooms were renovated, and the breakfast - for an additional charge - was absolutely first class. Upon departure, the Owner had excellent advice for our continued tour of Provence.

Can't wait to go back to this Arles treasure!

Hotel Constantin is a slightly off-center 2-star hotel with clean, quiet rooms, run by proactively helpful people. Its management understands what budget-conscious travelers want from value lodgings, and is adept at providing services that do not cost them much yet add to customer satisfaction. These little services add up to differentiate this hotel from the rank-and-file competition.

Constantin is located in the western part of Arles, in a slightly run-down residential neighborhood very close to the highway E80. It is about 800m (half a mile) to the old town, 500m to the office de tourisme (tourist office), and about 2Km to Gare d'Arles (train station). The hotel sits on Boulevard de Craponne, a small road that runs in parallel to the main east-west traffic artery of Boulevard Georges Clemenceau. The said Boulevard de Craponne is relatively traffic-free, so guests can temporarily park their car in front of the hotel for unloading baggage before heading to the free public parking a little further to the west. The said public parking lot is accessed via Avenue Sixte Quenin. Although there are some parking spaces just north of the parking lot and closer to the hotel, where Boulevard de Craponne meets Avenue Sixte Quenin, we would resist the temptation as we saw sketchy people and broken glasses on the ground. This neighborhood southwest of the old town isn’t Arles’ prettiest, with local men looking at travelers and their cars with wry, suspicious smile, but we did not encounter any trouble. It is probably not an ideal location for train travel, but is quite convenient for people with cars. The location of the hotel outside the old town actually makes driving out easier, offering a good base for day trips to les Alpilles (Abbaye de Montmajour, Fontvielle, Les Baux-de-Provence, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence) as well as the Camargue (Salin de Giraud, Parc ornithologique de Pont-de-Gau, Aiguës-Mortes).

The hotel itself occupies a multi-storey building without elevator. The small lobby and lounge look cozy and inviting. Our room was clean, quiet, bright, and painted with van Gogh-ish feel. It wasn’t exactly spacious but larger than expected, given its very attractive price. The buildings across the street from the window were lower than our floor, giving us good privacy. The room was equipped with air-conditioning and had comfortable beds, two small side tables, a small desk, two chairs, a small closet, as well as an open garment rack which made hanging longer jackets easier. In addition, there were two large mirrors on strategic locations and a box of facial tissues that is rare among budget hotels. The bathroom was also sufficiently clean, with just a little bit of mold inside the shower booth. There were 4 towel hangers, as opposed to the usual one or two, and feminine hygiene disposal bags, again rare among economy lodgings. The water pressure was rather weak and there was no hair dryer, but overall we were satisfied with what the room offered for its price.

The rooms are of good value but what really distinguishes this hotel from the competition is its people. We met two ladies, one young and the other middle-aged. The soft-voiced young pretty lady apparently doubled as receptionist and maid. She spoke broken English and looked almost shy, but tried her best to make us comfortable. She ushered us in, let us sit down and have some drink while she checked us in, gave us a city map and some information, then carried our baggage up the stairs. We could see that she kept thinking about what the guests would need at the moment. The middle-aged lady was a matriarch-like powerful figure of outgoing and proactive personality. On our check-out, she was at the reception and somehow quickly noticed us trying to move a 20-Kg baggage from our top-floor room, ran up, and carried it down with just one hand, waving off our concern that it might be heavy for her.

In summary, Hotel Constantin is a small budget hotel that, with a small extra amenity here and a thoughtfully-placed extra furnishing there plus a bit of proactive service, manages to become more than the sum of its parts. The slightly shabby neighborhood is the only real downside, but on the other hand the location is great for day trips covering western Bouches-du-Rhône and eastern Gard departments. We believe its performance-price ratio is quite high, and would recommend Constantin to value-minded travelers with a car.

We spent just one night in Arles but were pleased that we chose the Hotel Constantin. Located at the other end of town from most of the historic attractions, the hotel is well situated as most of Arles can be comfortably covered by foot. The welcome from Patrick was very warm - we were offered cold drinks and were then given a run-down on where all the sights were, as well as a (very useful) recommendation to buy an Arles Pass (available from the tourist bureau) which gives access to four attractions and two museums for €9. Our rooms were clean and bright (one of the bathrooms had been recently refurbished), the A/C worked well and the beds were fine. Breakfast is an €8 euro option and was reasonable value. Service all round was excellent and very friendly. Free parking is available just around the corner and bars and restaurants are just a five minute walk away. When we head back to Arles, we'll certainly stay at the Constantin again.

We primarily chose this hotel as we wanted somewhere with free parking nearby. Were not disappointed as there is a free car park 50m away at the end of the road.
Near motorway so easy to get to once you know where it is. I printed detailed Google map and found with little problem. Less than 10 minute walk into town centre.
Very comfortable beds and pillows. Quiet at night despite proximity to main road.
Owner friendly & helpful. She recommended some fab restaurants in Arles so do ask her (loved both La Plaza and Le Tropical).
Large bathroom with 2 sinks (room 12).
Breakfast good value and large selection of cold items, good coffee.
