“Ingenu....means 'artless' in dictionary”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Maybe just picked a bad night. Sat down, read 'board', chose meal. Then, when ordering, were told of various changes eg 'this is not available...we have that instead' etc. Should probably have called it quits at that point and gone somewhere else but stayed. Meal not poor, but was highly overpriced for what it was. Service fine. Bill was added-up incorrectly. Place seemed a bit on edge. You win some...you lose some....

“Terrine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The owner is very friendly. You must at all costs try the salmon terrine, delicious. They offer a varied and interesting menu. The service is impeccable. The prices are very acceptable. I highly recommend it.

“You won't be disappointed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

Having checked in to the hotel next door and not wanting to walk any more than the 10,000 steps we had already done today, we tried this quaint restaurant. As is typical with most 20 or so seat restaurants in France this is a two person operation - chef in the back, and host/server out front. We were enthusiastically greeted by the owner Sebastian immediately.
Ordered a carafe of local rosé wine for 5euro and then both proceeded to go with the 19euro tapas platter. What a pleasant surprise - a combination of salmon wrapped in phylo, shrimp on skewers, chorizo sausage, a very mild hummus on toast, grilled chicken, garbanzo beans marinated in cumin, and some fresh salad greens. A basket of bread accompanied the meal. My wife and I finished the meal by sharing a decadent chocolate dessert. Sebastian's service was attentive. A very good evening for a total of 44euro.

“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Thanks to the many positive reviews on TA we tried this restaurant located on Place Voltaire just a short walk down from the arena. As it sits at the far end of Place Voltaire we probably would not have discovered it just walking by – at least not on that cold and rainy March night we went when Place Voltaire appeared rather deserted and not overly inviting. The minute we walked into this cozy little restaurant, however, this feel was completely reverted: The small dining room is tastefully decorated (it has an interesting white ceiling light onto which changing colors from a different light are being projected), and we were given a warm welcome by the owner. The night we went soft jazz music was playing on internet radio. The owner was very nice, and he patiently explained to us the menu written down entirely in French on a chalkboard. He also taught us what we consider a very important addition to our modest French vocabulary, the word “seiche” (= “cuttlefish”). Now the “seiche” we had as a secondary dish turned out to be really superb, tender and moist, and accompanied by a nice array of very tasty vegetables. Starters and desserts were extremely good as well as was the “apéritif de la maison”, white wine refined with a taste of melon. We thoroughly enjoyed our night at L’ingénue and would highly recommend this fabulous little restaurant!

“All-around awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

The food, service, ambience & pricing at L'Ingenu are all fantastic. We can't recommend this place highly enough. Loved it - and the proprietor/chef (Sebastien, I believe), was as sweet and helpful as could be. The desserts were especially delightful. Don't miss this place!
