Since 'Arelate' (Latin name of Arles) was the first Roman capital of Gaul, it has what any other Roman city has. This theatre may not be the largest nor the most preserved in existence, it has a charm of its own. The remaining marble columns of the stage have become a sort of iconic landmark for the city. Nowadays, it is used during the summer festival for all kind of entertainments (singers, plays, slide shows, etc..) It is also where the Queen of Arles is formerly presented to the people when it is time to elect a new one.
