Splendid hotel next (30m!) to the famous Arènes of Arles; small but beautifully styled rooms; friendly staff; relaxing courtyard; somewhat poor breakfast (buffet style).

What a wonderful little hotel. The service was friendly and welcoming, the rooms were charming, and the location within Arles was excellent. If I return to Arles, and I hope to one day, I would stay at this lovely hotel again. I really don't understand why the hotel is only 2 stars... but all the hotels in Arles seemed to only be 2 star hotels. It was definitely nicer than my 3 star hotel in Avignon! The only thing I can think of that is negative is that there was no elevator... but it is only 2 or 3 stories, and the sweet girl at the front desk carried one of our bags for us!
A little gem, don't let the 2* put you off. We had a view of the arena, is large and comfortable. The interior courtyard is fantastic for breakfast (breakfast itself is the usual continental affair!), and we had no trouble parking right outside as we always came back in the evening when people were clearing out.
We love this hotel!
We stayed for five nites, and Monique and her colleague from Germany had been very helpful right from the start! The staff speaks good English and offered great advice on everything u want to know about Arles!
We stayed at a twin room with two large beds which is perfect for me, hubby and our nine-yo. We didn't ask for a room with a view but we are happy with ours even though it doesn't have one: it's very hot all thru our stay and with the room without a view, we are shaded from the hot sun, making the room cooler upon our return every evening.
For the record, we didn't encounter any "water" problem in our shower. The shower, though small, is clean, new and functional.
Some tips:-
1. Buffet breakfast is great the the hotel, but if you want to save, there's a bakery close to the hotel (ask the staff) that opens at 0730 Hr, the croissants are unbeatable .
2. Don't miss the Sat morning market! It's one the biggest market fair in Provence. There is one stall that sells paella and cooked escargots in tomato sauce:-
Warning: it's super yummy!
3. Based on Monique's recommendation, we dined at the Restaurant Le Criquet which is a three-minute walk from the hotel. It ended up to be out best dining experience! The chef cooked with sophistication, their seafood platter with cream sauce is fresh and yummy, duck breast tender and juicy, staff friendly, price reasonable!
4. We rented a car and had to park at the Municipal Council which is a 8-minute walk from the hotel. If u drive, be sure to reserve a parking space through the hotel too.
5. For those who drive, there are two roads leading to the hotel, try and enter the hotel from the Amphitheatre as the road is a bit wider; if u enter from the main square, u have to drive through very narrow roads with lots of pedestrians, quite a headache!
This hotel, though not a three-star, is offering more than three-star service at such an affordable price!

We loved our stay in this quaint friendly hotel. We reserved after reading the reviews and were not disappointed. The location was perfect, within easy walking distance to the local attractions. We also appreciated the family room with adjoining twin beds for our two teens travelling with us. Air conditioning was an additional bonus for those hot summer days. The breakfast buffet also was wonderful for the teens. Would not hesitate to return and will recommend to anyone travelling to the area!
