L'Arlatan is right where you would want to be in Arles, walkable from the bus station but even more easily walkable to the downtown museums, Roman forum, restaurants, shops and market. The staff are friendly, and there are even some ruins beneath the hotel!
The hotel is a former enormous mansion, made of stone with no two rooms the same. Ours was in the rear, up a staircase (no lift) behind the fireplace. Our room (17) included a minibar in which you could actually put things, a private terrace as large as the room, a bath with a tub, a hairdryer, and a TV with CNN. Wifi is included, but the stone construction may make reception in your room iffy.
Breakfast was a beautiful thing, with the sole exception of the inexplicably bad coffee -- but there is so much more just outside the door, so don't sweat it!. There is a lovely courtyard with a fountain containing (snapping) turtles. We found the reception staff ready to explain or help out with anything. Fellow guests represented the spectrum of Eurozone countries with some Americans.
