“Visit for the Tranquility and Garden”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013 via mobile

We visited as we noticed the sign a number of times on the way from our apartment.
It was a tranquil sanctuary in an otherwise busy town environment. Furthermore people actually seemed to respect rather than try to change that!
The garden is well set out and maintained, though the time of year and weather made this more challenging.
Just sitting in te gardens chatting quietly was a sunny delight.

“Cool Oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Though we’ve been to Aix before, we’d never visited here. One of the ‘problems’ in Aix is that there’s almost nowhere to sit and watch the world pass by: of course there are cafes, etc.
So, we looked at the map and realised that there was green space as well as a building here, and it was only a few minutes walk from our hotel.

It’s worth the visit. The gardens are very pleasant and there are benches (some more comfortable than others), shade and art installations.

The building itself is worth a visit (2€) though there isn’t that much on display and if you don’t like modern art, you probably shouldn’t bother. Chatty and pleasant receptionist.

There is a toilet, but it's fairly crude!

“Perfect jewel box”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We loved the garden of this beautiful house. It was thoughtfully laid out with areas for children and for dogs. Such a contrast to the crowded streets of the old town.
However, the interior was totally spoiled by an exhibition of some of the ugliest modern art you are ever likely to see. The juxtaposing of exquisite interiors and antique furniture with hideous installations resembling a slaughter-house was probably as disturbing as the young woman responsible meant it to be. In one room the room steward had to tell everyone not to walk on the carpet as it wasn't actually a carpet but part of the exhibit. That was what it was like.

“a love nest for garden lovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I loved the gardens and the typical architecture of this simple pavilion. A low-key place to stop for a break in the sun.
